Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Vac Truck Operator / Plumbing Technician to join our team. This dual-role position involves operating a vacuum (vac) truck for hydro excavation to safely dig holes and performing plumbing repairs. The ideal candidate has experience in both vacuum excavation and plumbing, ensuring efficient site preparation and quality repair work.

Key Responsibilities:
Vac Truck Operation & Hydro Excavation:
Operate vacuum truck and hydro excavation equipment to expose underground utilities for plumbing repairs.
Safely use pressurized water and vacuum systems to dig holes without damaging existing infrastructure.
Identify and locate underground utilities such as water lines, sewer pipes, gas lines, and electrical conduits.
Perform routine maintenance and inspections on vac truck and excavation equipment.
Set up and break down job sites, including implementing proper safety measures and traffic control as needed.
Plumbing Repair & Maintenance:
Assess plumbing issues and perform repairs on underground water, sewer, and drainage systems.
Install, repair, and replace pipes, fittings, valves, and other plumbing components.
Test plumbing systems for leaks and proper functionality after repairs.
Use appropriate tools and materials to complete plumbing tasks efficiently and safely.
Ensure all work complies with local plumbing codes and regulations.
General Duties:
Maintain detailed records of excavation and plumbing work completed.
Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and clients regarding job status.
Follow all OSHA, DOT, and company safety guidelines to ensure a safe work environment.
Provide excellent customer service and maintain a professional demeanor on job sites.
Possess basic knowledge and ability to operate high-pressure water/blaster and vacuum equipment.
Be willing to travel occasionally, with potential overnight stays (not often).

Requirements & Qualifications:
Experience:
Prior experience operating a vac truck/hydro excavation equipment (required).
Minimum of 1 year of plumbing experience, preferably in underground repairs.
Licenses & Certifications:
Valid NC driver's license (Non-CDL truck).
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift 50+ lbs, work outdoors in various weather conditions, and stand for extended periods.
Skills & Abilities:
Mechanically inclined with a strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot equipment and plumbing issues.
Dependable, safety-conscious, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
Able to pass drug tests (pre-employment, random, and annual).
Able to read and write-no high school diploma required.
Physically capable of controlling industrial hydro blasting and vacuum equipment, including handling industrial hoses (up to 60 lbs) up and down multiple flights of stairs.
Must be able and not afraid to enter confined spaces through a manhole.
Must be safety-conscious and have good work ethics.
Basic mechanical skills preferred.
Must have telephone access and be reachable at all times.
Enjoy and be able to perform intermittent, sometimes heavy, physical labor.
