Job description

Unique petting zoo needs an experienced individual to oversee petting zoo.
Job Details:
  • Support daily animal care operations under the supervision of senior animal care staff.
  • Assist with feeding, cleaning, habitat maintenance, animal observation, and education activities.
  • Reside on-site as part of this live-in position and assist with after-hours animal needs when necessary.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and distribute animal diets according to established feeding schedules.
  • Clean and maintain animal enclosures, exhibits, and holding areas.
  • Observe and report changes in animal behavior, health, or appetite.
  • Assist with routine veterinary care and treatments as directed
  • Support enrichment activities to promote animal wellbeing.
  • Help with educational talks, tours, and visitor engagement.
  • Maintain accurate records of animal care and maintenance activities.
  • Follow all safety protocols and zoo guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • College degree helpful (especially in biology, zoology, animal science or related field).
  • Experience working with animals preferred (farm, zoo, shelter, or wildlife care).
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending and working outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Strong attention to details and commitment to animal welfare.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to learn and follow instructions from senior staff.

Schedule & Work Environment:
  • This is a live-in position with on-site housing provided.
