Summary
Drive transportation planning excellence while supporting critical live operations across Perdue harvest facilities. As a Live Haul Planner, you will create, manage, and adjust daily live haul schedules to ensure efficient transportation operations, support plant production schedules, and maintain exceptional service for internal and external customers. You will collaborate closely with drivers, leadership teams, contractors, and third-party partners to resolve issues in real time, optimize fleet utilization, and support continuous improvement initiatives. This role is ideal for a highly organized, problem-solving professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys building strong working relationships, and excels at balancing operational priorities while delivering results.
This position has a target wage of $23.00 - $28.50 per hour, based on shift, experience and qualifications with annual bonus available (variable depending on performance). Overtime may be available.
In addition to hourly wages, Perdue offers a competitive benefits package, including medical/Rx, 401(k) with employer match after 1 year, critical illness, accident insurance, dental, vision, life insurance, optional group life insurance, short-term and long-term disability protection, flexible spending accounts and paid time off.
Principal Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform daily scheduling, dispatching, schedule maintenance, and driver assignment adjustments to cover all loads and avoid service gaps.
  • Handle day-to-day operational issues as they arise, including ELD administration, asset management, and coordination with the garage regarding equipment and preventive maintenance issues.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Perdue drivers and contract drivers.
  • Address concerns related to PPE, PTO, and safety.
  • Track data for Agri Stats reports and contract driver performance.
  • Collect and communicate scale times, dispatch confirmations, and fleet utilization data.
  • Investigate and resolve issues independently and within a team environment.
  • Demonstrate dependability and maintain punctual attendance.
  • Conduct work professionally in a customer-focused environment.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively within a team environment.
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts related to transportation processes.
  • Partner closely with the scale house to implement schedule changes as needed.
  • Ensure transportation plans align with driver hours-of-service requirements and scheduling needs, especially for out-of-area drivers.
  • Work in an on-site office environment.
  • Spend the majority of time at a desk working on a computer and phone.
  • Collaborate frequently with other departments in real time to support operational needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.

Minimum Education and Experience
  • High school or equivalent.
  • 2-3 years of experience with customer service in transportation.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of and experience with DOT Hours of Service.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, stressful environment where issues must be resolved collaboratively in real time with minimal delay.
  • Systems aptitude and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with an emphasis on Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Strong listening, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Understanding of Live Operations, Transportation Operations, or Supply Chain Management.

Preferred Education and Experience
  • College degree in a related field.

Physical Requirements and Environmental Factors
  • Position is primarily sedentary but may require occasional movement between offices or buildings.
  • May need to move light equipment or supplies.
  • May need to access files, supplies, and equipment.
  • Work is performed in an office, open-partitioned, cubicle environment.
