Part-Time Competitive Program Staff Coach
Sporting Jax Soccer Academy
Location: Palm Coast Florida
Position Type: Part-Time (Evenings & Weekends Required)
Reports To: Director of Coaching / Age Group Director
Position Summary
Sporting Jax Soccer Academy is seeking passionate, energetic, and player-centered coaches to join our Competitive Program staff. Staff Coaches play a critical role in developing players within our player development pathway while fostering a positive, challenging, and professional environment.
Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong understanding of player development, effective communication skills, and a commitment to creating an exceptional experience for players and families. Coaches are expected to uphold the values and standards of Sporting Jax Soccer Academy while representing the club with professionalism on and off the field.
Primary Responsibilities
Coaching & Player Development
  • Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate training sessions aligned with the Sporting Jax player development curriculum.
  • Coach one or more Competitive Program teams during league matches, tournaments, showcases, and club events.
  • Create a positive learning environment that emphasizes technical development, tactical understanding, confidence, sportsmanship, and enjoyment.
  • Evaluate player progress and provide constructive feedback throughout the season.
  • Support player evaluations and placement events.

Team Management
  • Maintain timely communication with players and families through PlayMetrics.
  • Coordinate schedules, attendance, and team information.
  • Work collaboratively with Directors and fellow coaches to ensure consistency across age groups.
  • Promote player attendance and accountability.

Club Responsibilities
  • Attend staff meetings, coaching education sessions, and required club events.
  • Assist with club camps, clinics, ID sessions, and community outreach programs as assigned.
  • Represent Sporting Jax Soccer Academy in a professional manner at all times.
  • Support club initiatives that promote player retention, recruitment, and overall growth.

Administrative Duties
  • Complete game reports and player evaluations as required.
  • Maintain accurate team attendance records.
  • Follow all club policies and risk management procedures.
  • Ensure proper care and organization of club equipment.

Qualifications
Required
  • Previous coaching experience in competitive youth soccer.
  • Strong knowledge of player development principles.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Ability to pass all required background screenings.
  • Current SafeSport Certification (or ability to obtain).
  • Current US Soccer/FYSA Risk Management clearance (or ability to obtain).

Preferred
  • US Soccer D-License or higher.
  • United Soccer Coaches License.
  • Experience coaching ECNL, ECNL RL, NPL, N1, MLS NEXT, or other high-level youth leagues.
  • Goalkeeping or specialized training experience is a plus.
  • Experience using PlayMetrics or similar club management software.

Compensation is competitive and based on coaching qualifications, licensing, experience, assigned teams, and additional responsibilities.

Physical Requirements
Coaches should be able to:
  • Stand and actively coach for extended periods.
  • Demonstrate soccer techniques.
  • Lift and carry equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
