Job Description

TRC is seeking a Field Inspector to support the delivery of energy efficiency programs to commercial and industrial customers in direct support of PSE&G energy efficiency programs in the PSE&G NJ territory. As a Field Inspector you conduct site inspections for commercial and industrial energy efficiency projects and/or customers.

Job Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and schedule site visits with commercial & industrial customers throughout New Jersey.
  • Confirm project scopes of work with customers and confirm that scopes match project applications and records.
  • Conduct inspections to document existing building conditions, operations, and schedules and to identify potential efficiency measures. Verify compliance with program requirements.
  • Develop inspection reports that summarize on-site findings and include photographs and action items to resolve discrepancies.
  • Understand and utilize program workbooks.
  • Manage inspector queue.
  • Review and analyze pipeline data/reporting.
  • Successfully complete assigned work on time and within budget.
  • Communicate effectively with building owners, operations staff, and contractors.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Residency within the State of New Jersey, preferably from regions identified by the state of New Jersey as Overburdened Communities (https://dep.nj.gov/ej/communities/)
  • Reliable means of transportation to facilitate site visits throughout the State of New Jersey. Valid driver's license.
  • Bachelor's degree, or Associate's degree with at least four years of relevant experience.
  • Aptitude for understanding of building science including mechanical, electrical, and/or weatherization technologies across a broad array of building types.
  • Strong computer and record-keeping skills: proficiency in MS Office and use of Customer Relationship Management (CRM).
  • Ability to work with culturally diverse customers and contractors effectively and respectfully.
Work Location

Primarily field work/site visits supported by in-office meetings/focus time. Office located in New Brunswick, NJ.

Working Remote Requirements
  • TRC will provide the required computer equipment to perform their work. TRC will not provide printers. Equipment supplied by TRC is to be used for business purposes and will be maintained by TRC. An inventory of all TRC IT equipment received by each candidate will be provided and candidates receiving IT equipment agree to take appropriate action to protect the items from damage or theft. Upon termination of assignment, all Company IT equipment will be returned to the TRC.
  • Consistent with TRC's expectations on information security, candidates must adhere to all Company policies for acceptable use and protection of Company equipment, systems, networks, and information. Candidates are responsible for securing computing equipment, protecting logged-in computers from accidental or intentional misuse, and using extra care when handling Company and customer proprietary and confidential information, in both digital and paper forms. All measures should be taken to ensure that the Company is not unreasonably exposed to cybersecurity threats or loss of information. Candidates are prohibited from using publicly accessible wi-fi when working on TRC computer equipment. USB devices will be blocked on all TRC computer equipment.
  • Candidate will be responsible for securing an adequate internet connection (speed, security, and bandwidth) and phone service to effectively perform the essential duties of the job. Phone service can be cell service. Internet and phone service are at the candidate's expense. Candidates will be responsible for maintaining their home offices so that they can accomplish their work in an efficient, safe, and expeditious manner. TRC will not be responsible for costs associated with the setup of the candidate's home office to include remodeling, furniture such as desks, chairs or file cabinets, and lighting or repairs or modifications to the home office space. TRC accepts no responsibility for damage or repairs to candidate-owned equipment.
Work Schedule
  • Field Inspector is to work 40 hours per week.
    • Must be willing to accommodate some atypical work schedules as requested by customer.
  • Field Inspector may be required to work an extended work week or as necessary to support the program schedule. The Staffing Agency shall submit requests for authorization to work overtime prior to performing any overtime.
  • Any hours over 40 hours a week must be preapproved in writing from TRC Manager. All written approvals must be submitted with that week's timesheet in order for TRC to pay for those hours over 40 hours a week.
Travel

~ 75% within the State of New Jersey

Additional Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience conducting Energy Efficiency Inspections for commercial and/or industrial buildings.

  • Residency in a region identified by the State of New Jersey as an Overburdened Community.

  • Team-oriented, hands-on, adaptive, and client-focused.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.

TRC works at various federal, state, and local governmental agency sites and client projects that may require an employee to be vaccinated. As a condition of your employment, you may be asked to work on one of these projects and will need to disclose your COVID-19 vaccination status through a secured portal/confidential process. While you are required to complete the form, consistent with the ADA you are not obligated to disclose your vaccination status. However, to the extent you elect not to disclose your vaccination status you will be considered unvaccinated which could impact your ability to perform work and remain employed at TRC. TRC will consider exemptions from vaccination for sincerely held religious beliefs and medical reasons where reasonable accommodations can be made in light of project and client specific requirements.
