Job description


1. Performs industrial fireproofing tasks including repair area preparation, formwork installation, metal lath installation, material mixing, and application in an industrial setting at an operating facility.
2. Must be able to perform fireproofing application tasks including the finishing of cementitious fireproofing.
3. May be required to measure and mix industrial fireproofing products. This activity requires the use of a half face respirator.
4. Must have experience in methods of application including hand trowel, shot applied, and sprayed (intumescent).
5. Operates, cleans, and maintains equipment including paddle mixers, pumps, pressure washers, etc.
6. Safely handles, stores, and labels all materials.
7. Fireproofing work will take place both on the ground in active work areas and at heights on installed structural steel and equipment. This position requires the use of fall protection equipment and access scaffolding. Fireproofing personnel must be capable of working at heights.
8. Review of design documents is necessary, and personnel should be familiar with construction drawings.
9. Fireproofing personnel shall be familiar with inspection equipment including depth gauges, durometers, scales, and environmental conditions monitors.
10. Installs powder actuated fasteners.
11. Performs industrial fireproofing activities in confined spaces such as vessels.
12. Performs quality control tasks for fireproofing systems.
13. Must be punctual and maintain a dependable level of attendance in accordance with project work rules.
14. Adheres to all safety procedures.
