Job description

Overview

A professional family located in Shaker Heights, a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio, is seeking an experienced full-time live-in nanny to join their household ahead of their daughter's arrival. The family is expecting their first child and plans to begin the new nanny relationship when their daughter is approximately 5 months old in March 2027, ahead of the mother's return to work. This is a nationwide search, and the family is taking their time with this search to ensure the perfect fit to join their household. The parents are both busy professionals who plan to remain very involved in their daughter's day-to-day life. They are looking for a true partner in childcare rather than a replacement caregiver and hope to welcome someone into their home who will offer exceptional care, guidance, and consistency as their daughter grows.  The family values open communication, mutual respect, and developing a long-term relationship built on trust and collaboration. The ideal applicant would similarly desire a long-term position and would be excited by the opportunity to build a lasting professional relationship with a growing family.

The schedule would generally be Monday through Friday 7:00am through 6:00pm.  Occasional flexibility may be requested with advance notice, and the family values maintaining a predictable schedule whenever possible. The nanny would be expected to accompany the family during their travels domestically, including to Florida and the Northeast, as well as some international travel. The family has a strong preference for a Norland-trained nanny or a candidate with an equivalent ethos and level of experience. The family has two dogs weighing approximately 20 and 40 pounds; the nanny will have no dog care responsibilities but must be comfortable living alongside them.

Responsibilities
  • All aspects of infant and childcare including feeding, bathing, and daily routines
  • Preparing child-appropriate meals and managing the child's laundry
  • Scheduling and attending appointments as needed
  • Packing and preparation for family travel
  • Managing and inventorying the child's closet and clothing as she grows
  • Supporting developmental milestones through age-appropriate activities and play
  • Contributing to a calm, structured, and nurturing environment
  • Maintaining a tidy and organized playroom
Qualifications
  • Norland-trained or equivalent ethos and professional childcare background strongly preferred
  • Experienced with infants and able to provide confident, knowledgeable guidance to first-time parents
  • Warm, mature, and collaborative approach to working alongside involved parents
  • Comfortable with domestic and international travel
  • Must drive; a separate vehicle for use by the nanny will be provided by the family
  • Comfortable with a family-style, integrated household dynamic
Requirements
  • Previous experience working in a private household
  • Valid US work authorization
  • Strong verifiable references
  • Must be comfortable living alongside two dogs
  • Valid driver's license and passport (passport may be obtained upon hiring, if needed)
Salary and Benefits
  • $100,000 per year+; commensurate with experience and qualifications
  • Private furnished accommodations in a separate wing of the home with a private bedroom and bathroom
  • 2 weeks paid time off plus 5 to 7 sick days annually and major holidays off
  • Monthly healthcare stipend to assist with the cost of individual coverage
  • Continuing education, CPR recertification, and professional development supported by the family
  • Relocation assistance available
  • Annual discretionary performance bonus
Employment Type: OTHER
