Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and client-focused Benefits Account Manager to manage the full lifecycle of employee benefits accounts. This role is responsible for leading renewals, coordinating open enrollment, supporting ongoing benefit administration, and providing strategic guidance to help clients meet their organizational goals. The ideal candidate is highly organized, relationship-driven, and committed to delivering a seamless client experience. This position plays a key role in supporting client retention, strengthening relationships, and ensuring accurate, timely service throughout the year.

Work Arrangement: This is a full-time position reporting to our office located in Fairfax, VA with the possibility of hybrid or remote work arrangements.

Professional Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned employee benefits clients, providing proactive, responsive, and consultative service.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships by understanding organizational objectives, benefit goals, and ongoing service needs.
  • Lead annual renewal activities, including pre-renewal planning, carrier marketing, renewal analysis, and open enrollment execution.
  • Develop and implement carrier renewal strategies that align with client needs, budget considerations, and benefit objectives.
  • Prepare and present renewal analyses, spreadsheets, benefit comparisons, and supporting recommendations.
  • Create and distribute enrollment materials, benefit guides, employee communications, and other client-facing resources.
  • Manage post-renewal implementation activities, ensuring plan changes, enrollment updates, and carrier records are completed accurately and timely.
  • Communicate with clients, carriers, vendors, and internal teams to resolve claims, billing, eligibility, enrollment, and policy-related issues.
  • Maintain accurate client records, renewal documentation, policy information, and account activity within agency management and CRM systems.
  • Process new business, policy changes, additional lines of coverage, and related account servicing requests.
  • Conduct claims reviews and identify trends, cost drivers, and opportunities to improve plan performance.
  • Assist clients and employees with claims issues, appeals, ID card requests, benefit inquiries, and carrier coordination.
  • Support employee enrollment updates, eligibility changes, and ongoing benefit administration.
  • Deliver client education sessions and support benefit communication strategies that improve employee understanding and engagement.
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflows, strengthen service delivery, and enhance the overall client experience.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience in employee benefits, account management, or client service within the insurance industry.
  • Active Virginia Life & Health insurance license required.
  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate or Bachelors degree in Business Administration or a related field preferred.
  • Strong understanding of employee benefits programs, plan designs, enrollment processes, and compliance considerations.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong client relationships while delivering responsive, high-quality service.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a consultative, client-focused approach.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, CRM systems, and benefits or agency management platforms.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in documentation, data entry, and account servicing.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with clients, carriers, vendors, and internal team members.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to professional and ethical standards.

Salary Range: $50,000 - $60,000 depending on the candidates experience
