Job description

US Citizens or GC Holders only
Must be on our W2- no C2C
Local candidates only
Onsite - 3-4 days per weekAs a Senior Engineer on the INFOPS Application Development team, you will play a key role in designing, building, and operating the platforms that suppors internal application development organization. This position blends hands-on technical execution with platform ownership, automation, and close collaboration with application and partner engineering teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • You will help design, build, and maintain a hybrid platform environment, integrating on-premises infrastructure with cloud services. A core responsibility of this role is owning and evolving the Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform, including configuration and lifecycle management across development, testing, and production environments.
  • You will design, write, and maintain GitOps-driven CI/CD pipelines that automate application delivery to Kubernetes platforms. This includes deploying and operating distributed applications using Helm charts, developing and maintaining Kubernetes operators where appropriate, and continuously improving delivery workflows through automation and standardization.
  • The role also includes ownership and operational responsibility for shared platforms that applications depend on, such as MongoDB, PostgreSQL, RabbitMQ, Apache Solr, and similar services. This includes lifecycle management, monitoring, troubleshooting, and ensuring platform reliability and availability.
  • You will build and maintain automation, self-service workflows, and platform capabilities that reduce manual effort and remove common bottlenecks. You will work closely with internal customers to understand requirements and engineer scalable, repeatable solutions aligned to business needs.
  • You will collaborate with partner engineering teams across WWT to align standards and drive efficiencies. As a senior member of the team, you will provide technical leadership through design collaboration, mentoring, and cross-training.
  • Operational excellence is a key expectation. You will monitor platform performance and availability, proactively identify and remediate issues, troubleshoot complex incidents, and participate in an on-call rotation and scheduled maintenance windows. Clear documentation, strong communication, and the ability to balance project delivery with operational responsibilities are essential to success in this role.
  • You are expected to actively participate in agile practices, including daily stand-ups, planning sessions, retrospectives, and ideation workshops, while contributing to continuous improvement across the team.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 7+ years of experience in software engineering or platform engineering
  • This role requires comfort working alongside AI-powered tools while maintaining strong engineering judgment, validation, and accountability for outcomes.
  • Senior Engineers will contribute to the adoption and continuous improvement of AI-enabled workflows by providing feedback, identifying opportunities for automation, and safely incorporating AI assistance into repeatable operational patterns.
  • This includes leveraging approved AI tools and agents to assist with platform operations, troubleshooting, automation, documentation, and workflow efficiency under established governance and best practices.
  • Senior Engineers on the INFOPS Application Development team are expected to actively use and support AI-assisted and agentic engineering workflows as part of their day-to-day work.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes, including deploying, operating, and troubleshooting production workloads. Experience with Red Hat OpenShift is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, configuring, and maintaining Kubernetes-based platforms across development, test, and production environments.
  • Experience administering or enabling at least one enterprise platform or shared service such as:
    • MongoDB
    • PostgreSQL
    • Redis
    • RabbitMQ
    • Apache Solr
  • Demonstrated experience with service mesh architectures, traffic management, or load balancing in Kubernetes environments.
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and automation workflows using tools such as GitHub, Jenkins, Codefresh, APIs, and GitOps-based approaches.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code, configuration-as-code, and automation practices (e.g., Helm, Ansible, Terraform, YAML-based pipelines).
  • Strong Linux skills with demonstrated knowledge of operating system concepts and administration.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability solutions; experience with Prometheus and Grafana is a strong plus.
  • Comfort scripting or coding in languages such as Shell, Python, or Node.js.
  • Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex distributed systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
  • A self-starter mindset with strong ownership, organization, and a passion for learning new technologies.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
