Job description

Job Title

This position is responsible for collecting samples from birds at various Broiler farms while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to company policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Collect and ship serum, tissue and feed samples from Broilers
  • Work with others on the farm to complete necessary tasks
  • Assist live operation team with feed inventory management
  • Adhere to all Animal Welfare Standards and biosecurity program regulations
  • Collection and reporting of performance data (weight, mortality, water consumption, etc.)
  • Other specific duties as required
Qualifications
  • Ability to work and operate equipment safely and effectively
  • Ability to use time wisely while working independently
  • Willingness to function as part of a team and work toward team goals
  • Excellent observation skills and attention to detail, eager to learn new ideas
  • Willingness to work overtime and be called into work for emergency situations as required
  • Must be willing to adhere to and support all company policies, programs, guidelines and standards of conduct.
Education and/or Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
Communication Skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively
Physical Requirements
  • Frequently (3-6 hrs.): lift/carry (up to 45 lbs.), push/pull (up to 100 lbs.), crawl, crouch, kneel, squat or balance
  • Frequently (3-6 hrs.): lift/carry and push/pull (up to 10 lbs.), simple/firm grasping, reaching at shoulder height or slightly above, bend/stoop, fine manipulation/hand tools, climb working at unprotected heights when on a ladder
  • Continuously (6-8 hrs.): stand/walk, work around moving machinery, exposed to marked changes in temperature; outside in varied weather conditions, indoors in a regulated environment, around and amongst poultry dust, odor and blood, as well as fumes, talk and hear, use 20/20 vision with or without corrective lenses
