Job Title: Senior Data Analyst (SQL, Databricks & Power BI)
Role Overview
We are seeking an expert, results-driven Senior Data Analyst to join our analytics team for a strategic 3-6 month contract engagement. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, optimizing, and maintaining complex SQL queries, building robust data pipelines in Databricks, and leading the end-to-end development of executive-ready Power BI dashboards and semantic models.
This is a high-impact, hands-on technical role for a professional who bridges data engineering and business intelligence. You will collaborate directly with finance and operations subject matter experts to translate complex business requirements into scalable data models, perform rigorous data profiling and reconciliation, and coach internal teams on analytics best practices. If you possess deep expertise in SQL, Databricks, and Power BI, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
Data Engineering & Databricks Development
• Pipeline Construction: Build, manage, and optimize Databricks notebooks, Delta tables, and scalable data pipelines to transform large raw datasets into curated analytical datasets.
• SQL Optimization: Design, optimize, and maintain complex SQL queries, views, and stored procedures supporting core analytics, self-service reporting, and automated data quality controls.
• Data Integrity: Perform advanced data profiling, validation, and multi-source reconciliation to ensure absolute accuracy, high performance, and compliance with governance standards.
Business Intelligence & Stakeholder Collaboration
• Power BI Architecture: Lead the development, enhancement, and ongoing maintenance of high-performance Power BI dashboards, interactive reports, and enterprise semantic models for executive and operational stakeholders.
• Requirements Translation: Partner with business subject matter experts (SMEs) across finance and operations to translate business needs into scalable data models, meaningful KPIs, and comprehensive documentation.
• Best Practices Coaching: Serve as a subject matter expert, providing code reviews, technical guidance, and best-practice mentoring in SQL, Databricks, and Power BI to internal analytics team members.
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Information Systems, or a related quantitative field.
• Experience Baseline: Minimum of 5+ years of professional experience in data analysis, business intelligence engineering, or data warehousing.
• Technical Mastery:
oExpert-level proficiency in SQL (writing, tuning, and optimizing complex queries, views, and stored procedures).
oHands-on production experience with Databricks (notebooks, Delta Lake, and data pipeline development).
oAdvanced expertise in Power BI development, including data modeling, DAX, semantic models, and executive dashboard design.
oProven experience performing data profiling, validation, and governance reconciliation across diverse source systems.
• Core Competencies: Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills; strong business acumen across finance and operational domains; ability to work independently and deliver high-impact results under tight timelines.
Preferred Attributes
• Prior experience embedding analytics within fast-paced corporate finance or operational environments.
• Background establishing enterprise self-service reporting frameworks and data quality monitoring controls.
