Emergency Department Health Unit Coordinator/Registrar - Full-Time
Weiser Memorial Hospital - Weiser, ID
Status: Full-Time | Non-Exempt | Variable Shifts

About the Role:
Weiser Memorial Hospital is seeking a flexible and dependable Emergency Department Health Unit Coordinator/Registrar to join our team. This role is responsible for indirect patient care in the ED setting. Meets the communication needs of the patient/family, departmental staff and medical staff. Prepares and compiles medical records in the ED Unit. Initiates directions from physician and nursing staff. Participates in performance improvement activities. Maintains regulatory agency requirements, nursing and hospital policies and procedures and standards.

Weiser, ID, is located in Western Idaho, minutes away from I-84 and offers a lower cost of living than the national average, including nearby Boise. Key Responsibilities:

  • Registers patients to the Emergency Department. 
  • Reviews and updates patient information on each Emergency Department episode. 
  • Prepares charts for scheduled admissions. Assembles chart packets with consents etc. to be scanned into the EMR. Documentation meets current standards and policies. 
  • Responsible for interviewing patients or their representative, where admission is unscheduled. Obtains personal information or verifies information already on file, including emergency numbers and insurance information. 
  • Assists with patient admissions, discharges and transfers. Responsible for obtaining signatures on Conditions of Admission and initiating the advance directive process. Communicates with Nursing Services when no advance directive is available. 
  • Verifies patient insurance is active with given tools/websites. 
  • Demonstrate professionalism and service excellence with patients, families, and staff

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent

Current BLS Certification.

Ability to use sound judgment and cope with potentially stressful situations

Ability and willingness to exhibit behaviors consistent with standards of performance improvement and organizational values (e.g., efficiency & financial responsibility, safety, partnership & service, teamwork, compassion, integrity, and trust & respect).

Ability and willingness to exhibit behaviors consistent with principles for service excellence.

Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Additional languages preferred.

Basic computer knowledge.

Knowledge of medical terminology
