Role Description

The Assistant Project Manager is a full-time position based in Kansas City, MO. This role supports project managers in planning, coordinating, and executing construction projects from pre-construction through closeout.


What you'll do

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Tracking schedules and budgets, coordinating with subcontractors and vendors, assisting with procurement and expediting of materials, and supporting inspections and quality control activities.
  • The Assistant Project Manager helps manage project documentation, prepares status reports, and communicates with internal teams and clients to keep projects on schedule and within scope.
  • The role also involves collaborating with logistics teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment and proactively identifying and resolving project-related issues.
  • Support day-to-day planning and scheduling for active construction projects, coordinating crew activities against the project schedule
  • Take field measurements and develop accurate estimates, bids, and client quotes
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to support scope development and change management
  • Prepare project reports, track progress, and flag issues before they become delays
  • Serve as a communication link between the field, the office, clients, and subcontractors


Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in electrical and/or general construction
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field or an Associate's degree paired with 4 years of electrical construction experience
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprint drawings
  • Experience or familiarity with Project Management, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and coordinating construction activities.
  • Knowledge of Inspection processes and quality control standards in construction or related industries.
  • Understanding of Logistics Management, including coordination of shipments, inventory tracking, and site deliveries.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for interacting with project teams, vendors, and clients.
  • Proficiency with project management software, spreadsheets, and other digital tools commonly used in construction project environments.
  • Associate or bachelorโ€™s degree in construction management, engineering, business, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team environment and to adapt to changing project needs.
  • Previous experience in construction, EPC, or general contracting settings is preferred but not required.
