OVERVIEW OF THE COMPANY

Fox TV StationsFOX Television Stations owns and operates 29 full power broadcast television stations in the U.S. These include stations located in 14 of the top 15 largest designated market areas, or DMAs, and duopolies in 11 DMAs, including the three largest DMAs (New York, Los Angeles and Chicago). Of these stations, 18 are affiliated with the FOX Network. In addition to distributing sports, entertainment and syndicated content, our television stations collectively produce approximately 1,200 hours of local news every week. FOX 32 Chicago is looking for an innovative Reporter with a Content Creator mindset who can tell any story for anyscreen. We're looking for a story-teller who will report live daily on fun and exciting events happening in the greater Chicago area. The candidate will be a self-starter and work independently to produce compelling content. This isn't a job where the assignment desk hands you a story every day, we're looking for an innovator who knows how to create great content. Additionally, you may produce and host a daily program. We're looking for someone who embraces new technology and craves the chance to try something different. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works in concert with the News Managers to create daily live reports from fun and exciting locations across the greater Chicago area. This includes pitching story ideas, setting up shoots and interviews and effectively communicating plans with producers.

  • Works in concert with the News Management to develop concepts for scheduled streaming programs designed to maximize audience for the station's content.

  • Crafts compelling local content to be delivered via the station's platforms.

  • Comfortable in utilizing technology to execute streaming of pre-produced program content

  • Monitors incoming video feeds and stories of high local interest in conjunction with Assignment Editors.

  • Appears on camera to host and introduce scheduled streaming programs; ability to host and narrate live coverage of breaking news and scheduled news events presented in full on the station's platforms.

  • Participates in discussions about content strategy and planning for the station's coverage.

  • Ensures that all content meets the editorial standards of the FOX 32 newsroom

  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Must be flexible in scheduling

EQUIPMENT/SOFTWARE USED:

  • Microsoft Office

  • iNews or similar newsroom computer system

  • BitCentral

  • Tricaster or similar video production/switching platform

  • TVU Channel or similar video program content management platform

  • Adobe Premiere Pro or similar non-linear editing system

  • Content Management Systems designed to publish stories on the station website

  • Proficient in YouTube, Meta, Tik Tok and other social media platforms

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of 2+ years' experience working as a reporter and/or anchor in a medium or large market preferred. College degree in communications/journalism or related field preferred. Good news judgment and knowledge of fair and accurate journalism practices. Ability to tell stories, ask good probing questions in Q&A with reporters and ad-lib effectively. Strong writing skills and thorough knowledge of current events. Excellent people and communication skills; must be a team player.

  • Must possess strong language skills, be proficient in English grammar, spelling and punctuation and must be able to utilize conversational broadcast copy style efficiently under daily deadline pressure

  • Proficiency with video production technology, including non-linear editing and video switching tools

  • Strong editorial judgment required

  • Excellent on-camera delivery and communication skills required

  • Self-starter with the ability to work productively while working independently

  • Able to prioritize and work under daily deadline pressure

  • Prior producing and editing skills a plus
