Job Summary
We are hiring a Composite Technician II for a direct hire opportunity in San Diego, CA within the aerospace and defense industry. This role is ideal for an experienced composite technician with hands-on lamination, bonding, and aerospace component assembly experience.
This is a steady 2nd shift opportunity in a structured, safety-focused manufacturing environment where precision, craftsmanship, and technical skill are highly valued. Key Responsibilities
- Fabricate, fit, align, assemble, and repair composite parts and subassemblies according to engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
- Apply structural adhesives, sealants, and bonding agents to join composite components and prepare surfaces through sanding, cleaning, and treatment.
- Install fasteners using hand and power tools while verifying placement, torque values, and assembly accuracy.
- Set up and use assembly jigs, fixtures, templates, and measuring tools to support repeatable, high-quality production.
- Perform functional checks, preliminary inspections, documentation, and process updates before final inspection.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-compliant work area while communicating issues to supervisors, engineering, and quality teams.

- Shift: 2nd shift, 3:00 PM to 12:30 AM.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Assemble composite and aerospace components using engineering blueprints, hand tools, power tools, and structural bonding techniques.
- Perform composite fabrication, lamination, fitting, bonding, fastener installation, and repair work to tight tolerances.
- Document work steps, process parameters, deviations, and job status updates accurately.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, quality, and management teams to support schedule, quality, and completion timelines.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 3+ years of relevant experience, including hands-on composite or lamination experience reflected on the resume.
- At least 2+ years of experience assembling composite or aerospace components using blueprints, hand and power tools, and structural bonding methods.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
- Familiarity with machinist hand tools, measuring instruments, assembly fixtures, jigs, and templates.
- Knowledge of safety practices and OSHA standards.
- Ability to work in a loud manufacturing environment, work extended hours as needed, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Strong interpersonal, written communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Customer-focused mindset with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented production environment.
- Must maintain eligibility for Department of Defense security clearance requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Respirator certification.
- Experience working directly with engineering, quality, and management teams on job status, completion timelines, technical issues, and inspection readiness.
- Aerospace and defense manufacturing experience.
- Experience integrating composite parts with metallic and non-metallic components.
