Position Overview

A private Palm Beach Gardens family is seeking a reliable, educated, and engaging Per Diem Nanny to care for their 8-year-old son during his scheduled time at home. The child attends boarding school in Europe and returns to Palm Beach Gardens for defined break periods across the year. The family is looking for one consistent caregiver to hold all of the identified dates, so the child sees the same familiar person each time he is home.

This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher, educator, paraprofessional, tutor, school professional, or experienced nanny who enjoys working with school-age children and wants a flexible, well-compensated position with a wonderful private family. Structure is a priority in this household โ€” the child does best with consistent mealtimes, activity time, and bedtime, and the family is looking for someone who can hold that routine while keeping the days engaging and balanced against screen time.

The household includes three crate-trained dogs, and the nanny will share responsibility for their feeding and care. The property sits on five acres. Both live-in and live-out arrangements are available, and the family is open to either depending on the period.

Benefits

  • Live-in accommodations available: private bedroom with twin bed, private bathroom, sitting area, personal refrigerator, and television, located in a two-connected-bedroom suite
  • Vehicle provided for work-related driving; on-site parking available
  • Uniform provided (polo shirt and slacks)
  • Live-in candidates are welcome to any food kept in the home; additional storage space available for personal groceries
  • Recurring, long-term engagement with a family committed to retaining the same caregiver across all break periods
  • Advance notice provided for all scheduled dates

Responsibilities

  • Provide attentive, engaging, and age-appropriate care for one 8-year-old boy
  • Maintain a structured but enjoyable daily routine, including wake-up, meals, activities, and bedtime
  • Support schoolwork, homework, reading, and educational activities as needed
  • During summer, wake the child, prepare him for the day, and have him fed, dressed, and ready for private tutoring sessions
  • Plan and participate in age-appropriate activities, outings, sports, and cultural experiences; support hands-on play, including building activities and games, and help balance screen time
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and strong social skills
  • Prepare and serve meals and snacks tailored to the child's specific food preferences
  • Keep the kitchen clean and tidy following meal preparation
  • Coordinate transportation to activities and appointments as needed
  • Feed and care for three dogs (Great Dane and Jack Russell among them; all crate-trained)
  • Run household errands as needed
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and positive environment
  • Communicate professionally with the parent regarding the child's schedule, activities, and needs
  • Be a consistent, dependable presence each time the child is in Palm Beach Gardens

Requirements

  • Must be local to Palm Beach Gardens or the immediate surrounding area
  • Must be available for all scheduled dates across the full slate of break periods
  • Strong experience working with school-age children; minimum 3 years of professional childcare, teaching, or related experience
  • Education, teaching, tutoring, or child-development background strongly preferred โ€” teachers and former teachers, tutors and academic support professionals, paraprofessionals, school counselors, child development specialists, and experienced professional nannies with strong school-age experience are all encouraged to apply
  • Mature, responsible, energetic, articulate, and comfortable working independently
  • Able to engage and keep pace with an intellectually advanced child
  • Valid driver's license, and comfort driving a provided vehicle
  • Strong swimmer (the rear of the property borders a canal)
  • Comfortable and confident with dogs, including large breeds
  • Neat, professional appearance; willingness to wear a provided uniform
  • Comfortable working either live-out or live-in, depending on the family's needs during a given period
  • Dependable and flexible with a per diem schedule
  • Valid passport
  • Willingness to sign a non-disclosure agreement
  • Conversational German or French preferred
  • Must be able to provide 3โ€“5 professional references
