Job Description

Construction Project Manager — New Airport Terminal (Active Operations)

We are hiring a Construction Project Manager to help deliver a new terminal build within an active airport, coordinating complex phasing around live operations, underground fuel infrastructure, and elevated passenger walkways and bridges.

You will help manage construction from mobilization through commissioning and handover, ensuring zero disruption to airside/landside operations, safety, and schedule.  Interface with airport authorities, airlines, AHJ’s, utilities, and third‑party stakeholders to align permits, inspections, and operational windows.  Orchestrate multi‑trade delivery across structural, architectural, MEP/FP, IT/security, baggage handling, boarding bridges, and vertical circulation systems.

Job Duties:

  • Facilitate construction plan, logistics, and phasing to safely build adjacent to live gates, taxiways, and public areas.
  • Drive schedule certainty with detailed look‑ahead planning, constraints removal, and recovery strategies.
  • Daily coordination with airport ops for SIDA badging, escorting, access routes, and night/off‑peak work windows.
  • Plan and supervise work around/over a jet fuel hydrant system and other critical utilities; manage isolation, testing, and protection measures.
  • Coordinate utility diversions, leak detection, and as‑built verification; maintain strict permit‑to‑work controls.
  • Champion a zero‑incident culture and rigorous QA/QC; align inspections, mock‑ups, and commissioning plans with acceptance criteria.
  • Ensure compliance with airport design criteria and applicable safety and fueling regulations in coordination with the AHJ.
  • Administer contracts, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and claims; keep disciplined cost and contingency controls.
  • Escalate risks early and drive corrective actions.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • BS Engineering/Construction Management and 6 years of relevant construction experience as a Project Manager or demonstrated equivalency of education/employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven experience on at least one terminal or concourse program (or equivalent complex public facility) in an active airport environment.
  • Experience working as a Project Manager for a large general contractor and CMAR experience.
  • Strong command of construction logistics in secure areas, crane planning, night/weekend sequencing, and public‑facing safety controls
  • Proficiency with CPM scheduling (e.g., Primavera P6), cost control, submittals/RFIs, and field execution platforms (e.g., Procore or similar)
  • Ability to interpret design documents for structural, architectural, MEP/FP, and specialty airport systems (BHS, ICT/security, boarding bridges).
  • Direct delivery experience with terminal expansions/replacements, boarding bridge integration, elevated walkways, and baggage systems.
  • Experience coordinating with AHJ's.
  • OSHA 30 and advanced safety training.

Additional Information
  • This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization now or in the future.
  • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.
  • This position is not hybrid nor remote.
  • In order to receive a security badge at the client worksite for which you are being hired to perform services, you will be required to pass the client's security screening process to include SWAC (Secure Worker Access Consortium) and/or SIDA (Identification Display Area) and fingerprinting, which will be done after you have commenced employment and is a condition of your continued employment.

At AECOM, we are committed to maintaining a secure and trustworthy recruitment process and take any fraudulent hiring activity seriously. To support this commitment, all newly hired employees are required to attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location as a condition of employment.
