Job Title: Therapist

Department: Counseling

Reports To: Clinical Director

Schedule: Approximately 20 hours per week

Position Summary

The Therapist provides trauma-informed counseling and therapeutic support to children in Seamark Ranch's residential program. The role coordinates treatment planning, family involvement, and care with the residential team. The Therapist supports restoration and reunification efforts when appropriate.

Essential Functions

• Provide individual, group, and family counseling to children as clinically appropriate.
• Complete clinical assessments and identify treatment needs, goals, and recommended interventions.
• Develop, maintain, review, and update individualized care plans and service plans.
• Monitor each child's progress toward treatment goals and adjust recommendations as needed.
• Maintain timely and accurate progress notes, assessments, treatment documentation, and other required clinical records.
• Coordinate and facilitate restoration meetings with children, families, residential staff, and other appropriate participants.
• Maintain regular communication with parents and guardians regarding the child's progress, needs, concerns, and treatment goals.
• Coordinate and support scheduled phone calls and other approved communication between children and their families.
• Prepare children and families for home visits, family meetings, transitions, reunification, and discharge when appropriate.
• Provide therapeutic support and intervention related to behavioral, emotional, relational, and adjustment concerns.
• Provide crisis assessment, intervention, and follow-up as needed.
• Collaborate with houseparents and residential staff to support treatment goals within the child's daily living environment.
• Provide clinical guidance to residential staff regarding behaviors, triggers, coping strategies, boundaries, and therapeutic approaches.
• Coordinate care with education staff, medical providers, outside counselors, case managers, and other service providers as appropriate.
• Participate in treatment team meetings, case reviews, staff meetings, and other multidisciplinary meetings.
• Assist with intake, transition, discharge, and aftercare planning as appropriate.
• Identify changes in a child's emotional or behavioral functioning and communicate concerns to appropriate team members.
• Ensure services and documentation comply with organizational policies, professional standards, licensing requirements, confidentiality requirements, and mandated reporting laws.
• Participate in clinical supervision, training, and professional development as required.
• Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and confidentiality in all interactions with children and families.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field.
• Eligible for Florida licensure or registration as a mental health professional.
• Experience counseling children or adolescents and knowledge of trauma-informed care and treatment planning.

Preferred Qualifications

• Florida clinical licensure or registered intern status.
• Experience with trauma, family disruption, residential care, or multidisciplinary teams.

• Ability to communicate effectively with children, families, staff, and outside providers.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality, professional boundaries, and sound clinical judgment.
• Strong collaboration, organization, documentation, and problem-solving skills.

Physical Requirements

The physical requirements of this role include:

• Ability to sit, stand, walk, and move throughout the campus as needed.
• Ability to respond appropriately to crisis situations.

Work Environment & Schedule

Primarily on-site. Schedule flexibility may be required for counseling sessions, family meetings, restoration meetings, or other child needs.
