 R+L Carriers has an immediate opportunity for a Traveling Superintendent at our Wilmington, OH Service Center. 

 Responsibilities:

  • Follows the project construction process to ensure that it is completed on time;
  • Liaise with government inspectors on the standard requirements of the site in terms of licenses and safety;
  • Supervises the general contractor and ensures that they are punctual and that they deliver;
  • Weekly site meetings;
  • Ability to travel to site and oversee all the construction process, anywhere required, including, but not limited to, flying, safely driving a minimum of 6 hours, etc.
  • Coordinate with project manager and other R+L Carriers employees on a regular basis.
  • Maintain, clean, and regularly schedule maintenance and repairs of assigned vehicle.
  • Effectively and efficiently communicate with all stakeholders of the project;
  • Recording the total costs for materials bought and payments for work done;
  • Ensuring that both the health and safety project plans are implemented;
  • Writing daily project progress reports and saving site photos;
  • Ensure that quality is preserved in the construction process and that the budget is maintained;
  • Proactively identify design deficiencies, schedule concerns, and other project specific issues;
  • Coordinate with suppliers and request purchase orders;
  • Ensure the general contractor maintains clean and safe standards;
  • Scheduling review and oversight;
  • Manage General Contractor and our sub-contractors;
  • Participate with the project team in pre-project planning sessions, estimating, sub-contractor selection, and scheduling.

Requirements:

  • Ability to schedule and multitask;
  • Good with basic technology, emails, saving documents and photos to the server, Microsoft suite, applications, e.g. cell phone, tablet, etc.;
  • Reliable transportation;
  • Knowledgeable in building and construction;
  • Be a good problem solver;
  • Ability to supervise;
  • Construction Scheduling Software;
  • Computer skills: complete daily time keeping in third party website, proficiency using Word, Excel, Outlook and project scheduling programs;
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with ability and willingness to face challenges, direct others, and effectively address conflict;
  • Delegate work appropriately;
  • Strong decision making and problem-solving skills;
  • Familiarity with requirements of drawings and specifications and with terms and conditions of Project Contracts, subcontracts and change orders, etc.
  • Plan travel via third party website
  • Ability to traverse rough terrain, in all weather conditions, and lift 50 lbs.
