Job Title: Production Director/Lead Audio Tech (Audio Specialist)
Reports to: Worship Pastor
Time Status: Full Time
Direct Reports: Audio, Lighting, and Live Production staff
Position Description:
The Production Director is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of Grace Baptist Church, Grace Christian Academy, and Oak Ridge campus production environments, ensuring excellence in audio, lighting, and broadcast (online audio and video). This role sets the tone for worship and event environments by ensuring technical excellence, strong systems, and a healthy team culture.
This position will serve as the Lead Audio Technician, taking a hands-on role in mixing and troubleshooting while also leading, training, and developing audio volunteers and team leaders.
The schedule for this role reflects the demands of ministry: Sundays, midweek, chapels, and key events are central, making flexibility essential.
This role requires a sense of calling. We are looking for a self-starter who takes ownership, leads with integrity, and is driven by the opportunity to serve the church and school, helping create environments where the gospel is clearly communicated and lives are transformed.
Qualifications:
  • Experience in large church ministry (2000+) or touring/live production and developing leaders.
  • Ability to create clear systems and processes across departments that align with the organization's singular mission.
  • Working knowledge of audio systems, lighting design, video production, projection systems, writing infrastructure, and presentation software (ProPresenter).
  • Experience leading technical staff and high-level volunteers
  • Ability to manage AVL systems at multiple campuses and maintain consistency across environments.
  • Budget management experience preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and relational skills with a collaborative leadership style.
  • Proficiency with Planning Center scheduling software (preferred).
  • Adaptable, flexible, and teachable (essentially, the ability to defer one's personal preferences in favor of the larger vision expressed by the ministry leadership).
  • Ability to develop and lead the long-term plan for growing live production in all related ministries (i.e., Kids, Students, Academy, etc.)
Personal and Spiritual Responsibilities:
  • A personal relationship with Jesus Christ, demonstrated through growing in a Grace Group, participating in Grace Worship, and serving with the Grace Family.
  • Must be an active member of GBC Knoxville campus.
  • Actively supports the mission, vision, and values of GBC.
  • Strong administrative discipline and organizational skills.
Core Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Development -

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the production team, including personnel in audio, lighting, and live production management.
  • Recruit, train, and schedule production staff and volunteers for all campus-wide events.
  • Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and spiritual growth.
Production Oversight & Systems Management -
  • Serve as the Lead Audio Technician, directly mixing services and events as needed, troubleshooting issues in real time, and maintaining consistent, high-quality audio across all environments.
  • Ensure seamless execution of worship services, chapels, and events.
  • Oversee the maintenance, upgrades, and optimization of campus-wide technical systems.
  • Develop and implement processes for production efficiency and excellence.
  • Collaborate with the broadcast team to ensure high-quality live-streamed and recorded content.
  • Stay current with trends and technologies in live production and broadcast.
  • Manage the production budget, ensuring wise stewardship of resources.
  • Stay current with trends and innovations in worship arts, music, and event production, incorporating new ideas and technologies to enhance the worship experience.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to ministry leadership on the progress and impact of production initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.
