Job Description

General Responsibilities - APC Operator Role
    Operate control room automation and production systems, utilizing templates to streamline production functions including technical directing, audio mixing, robotic camera operations, live and remote segment integration, video playback, graphics insertion, and switching.
    Prepare and execute live and recorded television broadcasts using the Automated Production Control (APC) system.
    Build and maintain rundowns for all broadcasts, public service announcements (PSAs), commercials, and other programming elements, whether automated or non-automated.
    Monitor and manage control room automation systems to ensure seamless execution of broadcasts.
    Edit stories and video clips to ensure high-quality, engaging content that meets production standards.
    Provide direction to on-air talent and technical crew during live and recorded productions.
    Perform other control room, studio, and production-related duties as assigned.

General Responsibilities - Production Assistant/Assist Role
    Assist in the operation of automated equipment used in the production of television broadcasts. May assume the responsibilities of the APC Operator or Production Associate when assigned.
    Support the APC Operator in the preparation and execution of broadcasts, PSAs, commercials, client shoots, and other productions.
    Monitor and actively participate in quality assurance processes, automation system interfaces, and equipment used for television production and on-air operations, including but not limited to graphics systems, audio systems, video servers, playback systems, live-shot communications, commercial integration, and robotic camera systems.
    Perform robotic camera operations, camera setup, shading, facility readiness checks, and pre-show equipment testing.
    Support station and remote production operations for live and recorded programming, news broadcasts, station promotions, community service projects, commercials, and special productions.
    Edit stories and video clips to ensure high-quality, engaging content that aligns with production standards.
    Perform other related duties as assigned and outlined in station operating procedures.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience using iNews, Dalet, or equivalent newsroom computer systems.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of related production experience in one or more of the following areas: directing, assistant directing, electronic graphics, audio operations, camera operations, or robotic camera operations.
  • Strong computer skills, including a minimum of three (3) years of experience working with and monitoring multiple screens and software applications simultaneously in a broadcast environment.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be willing to work in Tampa, Florida.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.
  • Must be able to work any schedule across a 24/7 operation, including overnights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Must be willing to work overtime and weekends with short notice.
  • Must be covered by Solutions, NBCUniversal's Alternative Dispute Resolution Program.

Desired Characteristics

  • Three (3) or more years of experience directing and/or technical directing live television productions.
  • Three (3) or more years of experience working with Automated Production Control systems; experience with Ross OverDrive and XPression systems preferred.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Broadcast Production, Communications, or a related field preferred, or currently enrolled in a degree program.
  • Demonstrates a positive work ethic and the ability to perform effectively under tight deadlines.
  • Maintains a high degree of integrity, professionalism, and accountability.
