The Bartender is responsible for efficiently preparing and serving beverages in a courteous and professional manner 

Requirements

Core Responsibilities:

  • Must be completely familiar with all the different kinds of liquor, recipes and prices of drinks, proper glassware used for each recipe, as well as garnishes needed. 
  • Anticipate guest needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests, maintaining positive guest relations at all times. 
  • Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction in each interaction. 
  • Efficiently maintain bar supplies, including preparation of daily requisition, as necessary. 
  • Know drink recipes, prices and type of beverages available. 
  • Follow guidelines established in regard to age identification for suspected minors. Courteously, but efficiently, check identification where appropriate. 
  • Be familiar with accurate cash handling procedures to include proper discounting, MICROS system (or registers), bank procedures and tip policies. Responsible for accurately charging the guests for drinks. Responsible for accurate intake of all the monies. 
  • Promote and upsell liquor and food. 
  • Efficiently enforce the red line system with no exceptions. 
  • Follow alcohol awareness guidelines. 
  • Be formally trained regarding liquor liability within 30 days of employment and every 2 years thereafter. 
  • Observe proper sanitation and cleanliness procedures. 
  • Efficiently complete all side work pre/post shift. 
  • Never leave liquor unattended during the assigned shift. 
  • Work in a cooperative and friendly manner with fellow associates. 
  • Practice a culture of guest service in all you do; promote courtesy, good will and a positive attitude in each and every encounter. 
  • Perform any reasonable request as assigned or directed by management.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to communicate with guests and associates. 
  • High work ethic and self-initiative 
  • Ability to work in high pressure situation 
  • Experience in problem solving and guest resolution 
  • Regular attendance according to established guidelines 
  • May be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the property 
  • Must possess basic computational ability 
  • Understand and efficiently and accurate operate MICROS system (or registers). 
  • Be able to accurately memorize drink ingredients and garnishes for use in beverage service. 
  • Focus and maintain attention to tasks, and complete work assignments on time despite frequent interruptions 
  • Ability to maintain excellent relationships with staff and maintain staff and guest confidentiality at all times

Physical Requirements:

  • Stand and walk for varying lengths of time 
  • Lift approximately fifty (50) pounds, such as trays, cases of liquor, dishes, etc. 
  • Grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, pulling, pushing, listening and hearing ability and visual ability
