This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, project-based environment and enjoys both rolling up their sleeves and contributing to higher-level financial insight.
The Accounting Manager is responsible for core accounting functions, cash flow visibility, and project-based financial tracking, while providing leadership with timely, accurate, and actionable financial information.
This is a high-impact role with a clear path to grow into a Controller position as the company continues to scale.
This position is primarily in-office, with occasional visits to project sites as needed, and reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Operations:
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in QuickBooks.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and internal management reports.
  • Develop and manage budgets, monitoring performance and identifying variances.
  • Provide financial analysis and reporting to leadership, delivering timely and actionable insights.
Cash Flow and AR/AP Management:
  • Own and manage daily cash balances and short-term cash flow forecasting to ensure ongoing liquidity and operational stability.
  • Proactively manage accounts receivable, including aging, collections strategy, and reducing DSO.
  • Establish and maintain disciplined billing and collections processes to accelerate cash inflows.
  • Own and manage accounts payable and vendor payment strategy, ensuring disciplined cash management while maintaining strong vendor relationships.
  • Identify potential cash flow risks in advance and communicate actionable insights to leadership.
  • Continuously improve cash flow visibility through reporting, dashboards, and process enhancements.
Project Accounting:
  • Prepare and manage progress billings based on contract terms.
  • Partner with project managers to track job costs, budgets, and profitability, ensuring financial accountability across projects.
  • Prepare project cost reports and proactively identify margin risks.
  • Maintain project-related financial data and support accurate revenue tracking.
Payroll and Compliance Coordination:
  • Manage payroll processes, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely submission.
  • Support prevailing wage reporting and compliance requirements where applicable.
  • Coordinate HR and compliance matters with internal or external partners.
Team Support and Process Improvement:
  • Collaborate with and provide guidance to administrative and accounting support staff.
  • Identify and implement improvements to financial processes, reporting, and efficiency.
  • Design and implement scalable financial systems to support company growth.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field.
  • 3–7+ years of accounting experience, including project-based or construction accounting.
  • Experience with job costing, progress billing, or contract-based revenue.
  • Strong understanding of accounts receivable, collections, and cash flow management.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks.
  • Ability to read and interpret contracts and project-related financial terms.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
  • Self-starter who is comfortable working independently in a growing environment.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Compensation:
  • $85,000 – $105,500 base salary.
  • Performance-based bonus opportunities.
  • Benefits package.
