Description:

The Entry Level Production Team Member supports daily operations within a liquid fertilizer manufacturing and distribution facility. This position assists with production activities including chemical blending support, material handling, tank and transfer operations, packaging, loading/unloading, and facility housekeeping. The role also includes operating a yard truck for trailer movement within the facility. This position is designed for individuals seeking to learn liquid fertilizer plant operations and develop long-term skills in an industrial production environment.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate a yard truck to safely move trailers within the facility yard in support of production, loading, and shipping activities.
  • Assist with liquid fertilizer production activities, including material staging, transfer operations, and batch support under supervision.
  • Support tank farm operations, including monitoring, connecting hoses, and assisting with transfers of raw materials and finished products.
  • Assist in loading and unloading bulk and packaged liquid fertilizer products.
  • Perform general production duties such as labeling, packaging, palletizing, and staging finished goods.
  • Conduct basic visual inspections of equipment, hoses, pumps, and tanks, and report any leaks, damage, or safety concerns.
  • Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and standard operating procedures at all times.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas in compliance with plant housekeeping standards.
  • Assist in inventory handling, material identification, and accurate product staging.
  • Support production teams in mixing, batching, and transfer processes as directed by supervisors.
  • Communicate operational issues, safety concerns, or equipment problems to supervisors promptly.
  • Participate in required safety meetings, training, and ongoing skill development.
  • Report all incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support safe and efficient plant operations.

Qualifications and Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior experience in manufacturing, warehouse, agriculture, chemical handling, or industrial environments is helpful but not required.
  • Willingness to learn yard truck operation (training provided if needed).
  • Strong commitment to safety and following procedures in a chemical/industrial environment.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced production setting.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn plant systems and equipment.
  • Good communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

This position works in a liquid fertilizer plant environment with exposure to chemicals, odors, noise, heat, cold, and outdoor conditions. The employee must be able to:

  • Lift up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 75–100 pounds occasionally.
  • Stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the shift.
  • Work in industrial environments with exposure to liquid fertilizers, chemical handling areas, and tank farm operations.
  • Work around moving equipment, forklifts, yard trucks, pumps, and transfer systems in a safety-sensitive environment.
  • Wear required PPE, which may include safety glasses, gloves, chemical-resistant gear, and respirators as required.
  • Work extended shifts, weekends, and overtime as needed based on production demands.
  • Communicate effectively in English for safety and operational instructions.
