Concept Solutions is seeking a Senior Linux Administrator to support the FAA's Infrastructure & Operations (I&O) Program in managing, securing, automating, and optimizing enterprise Linux and hybrid cloud environments across physical, virtual, and cloud-based infrastructure. This role is responsible for Linux systems administration, OS lifecycle management, automation, security compliance, patching, and infrastructure modernization in support of mission-critical FAA operations.


The Senior Linux Administrator will serve as a technical expert supporting Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) across enterprise environments. This position focuses on advanced Linux administration, automation, cloud provisioning, security hardening, patching, storage, virtualization, and operational consistency through infrastructure-as-code and DevSecOps practices. The ideal candidate brings strong scripting, cloud, virtualization, and security expertise with the ability to support large-scale enterprise deployments while maintaining FAA operational and compliance standards. Participation in monthly weekend patching rotation with partial flex scheduling.


Linux Systems Administration & Engineering

Administer, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise Linux environments consisting of RHEL 7+.

Manage Linux OS lifecycle processes including automated deployment, provisioning, maintenance, patching, and decommissioning across physical, VMware, Nutanix, and cloud environments

Build and deploy Linux systems from bare metal, virtual infrastructure, and cloud platforms using standardized automation frameworks

Manage Linux storage, partitioning, RAID groups, file systems, volume management, and backup/recovery processes

Support Linux Active Directory integration, FreeIPA authentication services, and enterprise identity management


Automation, Scripting & DevSecOps

Develop and maintain automation solutions using Python, Bash, PowerShell, Terraform, and Ansible

Automate OS deployments, patching, software distribution, server configuration, and lifecycle management

Build and manage AMIs, deployment templates, and cloud/virtual images

Support Git/Bitbucket workflows and DevSecOps toolchains

Leverage AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Visual Studio Code frameworks) to improve operational efficiency


Security, Compliance & Patching

Implement and maintain Linux security controls including SELinux, iptables, STIGs, OpenSTIG, and OS firewall configurations

Perform vulnerability remediation, security hardening, and compliance validation

Execute automated OS patching using tools such as Tanium or Red Hat Satellite

Participate in scheduled monthly patching rotations, including weekend maintenance windows

Support change control, audit readiness, and agency security initiatives


Cloud, Virtualization & Infrastructure

Provision and manage AWS/Azure cloud services including EC2, S3, RDS, Security Groups, and cloud accounts

Support VMware and Nutanix guest OS deployment and management

Manage enterprise storage solutions across virtualization and cloud platforms

Troubleshoot network connectivity, TCP/IP, subnetting, and port/service dependencies


Operations, Documentation & Collaboration

Support incident, service request, and break-fix activities through Jira and ServiceNow

Document operational procedures, deployment processes, and technical standards in internal knowledge bases/Wikis

Collaborate with Agile teams, infrastructure engineers, security teams, and application owners

Provide exceptional customer service while supporting enterprise stakeholders


Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field and 8+ years of relevant experience

Strong experience administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 7+) environments

Strong scripting experience in Python and Bash

Experience with Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell, Git/Bitbucket

Knowledge of Linux security including SELinux, iptables, STIG implementation, OpenSTIG

Experience with AWS/Azure cloud provisioning

Experience with VMware and/or Nutanix

Knowledge of Active Directory integration

Experience with Tanium, Satellite, or enterprise patch automation

Strong TCP/IP networking fundamentals

Ability to obtain RHCSA certification or equivalent


Preferred Qualifications

AWS Cloud certifications (Cloud Practitioner plus advanced certification such as Solutions Architect, Developer, or Security)

Experience with FreeIPA

Experience supporting large-scale federal or regulated enterprise environments

Familiarity with Agile/DevSecOps methodologies

Experience with enterprise backup/recovery strategies



Work Location and Schedule

Primary Location: Atlantic City, NJ

Schedule: Hybrid- 3 days a week in the office

FAA Personnel Suitability clearance required (AMS 3.14-2)


Compensation: $95K to $108K
