Job description

Job Overview

Principal Linux System Administrator – Tewksbury, MA. Full‑time onsite position. U.S. citizenship and a DoD Secret security clearance (interim clearance required before start) are mandatory. The role involves maintaining secure, cost‑efficient environments for classified programs across Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Microsoft Windows platforms.

Responsibilities
  • Administer and support heterogeneous Linux and Windows systems.
  • Manage and configure network services such as DNS, DHCP, LDAP, and Active Directory.
  • Utilize Ansible for automation and maintain server replication methods.
  • Apply troubleshooting techniques to resolve moderate to high scope/complexity problems, including hardware and operating system integration.
  • Configure and manage data RAID, backup technologies, and storage solutions.
  • Install and configure software applications for end users.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity professionals to maintain security requirements and provide documentation and training on advanced IT processes.
  • Support 24x7 operational systems, including work outside standard hours when necessary.
  • Travel up to 10% to other U.S. domestic locations as business needs dictate.
Qualifications
  • University degree or equivalent experience with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with Linux fundamentals and Windows Server internals.
  • Proficiency in Linux environments, VPN, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of LDAP, Active Directory, or VMware.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance or ability to obtain one.
  • Must achieve CompTIA Security+ CE (or equivalent) and an operating‑system certification within 6 months of start.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with VMware (vCenter, vSphere, ESX) and other virtual computing methods.
  • Knowledge of NISPOM, JAFAN, JSIG, DFARS, and DoD/RMF.
  • Familiarity with data storage, NAS, SAN technologies and HPC in Linux environments.
  • Experience with Microsoft WSUS, MECM, and Exchange Administration.
  • Experience with IT project lifecycle management processes.
  • Experience supporting engineering teams in software, simulations, and hardware development.
  • Proficiency in shell scripting and automation.

Salary range: $86,800 – $165,200 USD.
