Title: Systems Engineer - III (Linux Administrator)
Location: Kirkland, WA 98033

Position Overview 
We are seeking an experienced Linux Administrator with deep expertise in enterprise Linux infrastructure, security, and automation. This role is ideal for a skilled professional who can independently manage complex Linux environments while maintaining clear communication with internal customers and leadership. 
Primary Mission 
Own the day-to-day operational health of the Linux Center of Expertise by driving RHEL 8/RHEL 9 security remediation, coordinating with service owners, maintaining Puppet and Ansible automation, and ensuring timely execution of KTLO operational work across the OS Engineering organization. 
 
Primary Responsibilities
1. CIS & Security Compliance (Primary Focus)
  • Lead CIS Level 1 and Level 2 remediation activities for RHEL 8 and RHEL 9 environments. 
  • Coordinate remediation efforts with application owners, infrastructure teams, Security, and dependent service teams. 
  • Track remediation progress through completion while managing technical dependencies and exceptions. 
  • Prioritize vulnerability remediation based on organizational security SLAs. 
  • Validate remediation effectiveness and maintain compliance documentation. 
Primary Outcome 
Maintain secure and compliant Linux platforms while reducing security exposure across supported environments. 
 
2. Security Vulnerability Remediation
  • Drive ongoing OS vulnerability remediation activities. 
  • Coordinate patch implementation across supported Linux environments. 
  • Utilize automation wherever possible to reduce manual effort. 
  • Work with Security teams to resolve findings within required timelines. 
  • Support emergency remediation activities for critical vulnerabilities. 
Primary Outcome 
Meet vulnerability remediation SLAs while minimizing operational impact. 
 
3. KTLO (Keep the Lights On) Operations
Provide operational support for the Configuration Management and OS Engineering assignment groups. 
Responsibilities include: 
  • Interrupt (INT) requests 
  • Incident (INC) response and resolution 
  • Intake requests 
  • Operational troubleshooting 
  • Root cause analysis
