Job description

Systems Administrator

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and customer-focused Systems Administrator to provide both remote and on-site technical support to our clients. This role works closely with customers and our Professional Services team to implement, maintain, and support IT infrastructure solutions. The Systems Administrator is responsible for ensuring that client systems—including servers, networks, firewalls, workstations, and related technologies—remain secure, stable, and optimized. This position plays a key role in infrastructure planning, system upgrades, and disaster recovery preparedness for small to mid-sized businesses.


Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure & System Management

  • Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, servers, and related software
  • Deploy and support firewalls, switches, routers, and wireless systems
  • Manage server and storage systems, including virtualization platforms
  • Perform workstation deployment and end-user device support

Network Administration

  • Maintain network stability, security, and performance
  • Configure and manage DNS, DHCP, WINS, VPNs, routing, and switching
  • Troubleshoot and resolve connectivity and network performance issues

User & Client Support

  • Create and manage user accounts and permissions (Active Directory)
  • Provide technical assistance to end users both remotely and onsite
  • Communicate technical solutions clearly to technical and non-technical audiences

Security & Compliance

  • Implement and maintain firewalls, intrusion detection, antivirus, and access controls
  • Ensure adherence to security best practices
  • Support corporate antivirus and endpoint protection platforms

Monitoring & Optimization

  • Monitor system performance and identify bottlenecks
  • Optimize infrastructure for efficiency and reliability
  • Utilize diagnostic tools to troubleshoot hardware and software issues

Backup & Disaster Recovery

  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery and prevention procedures
  • Manage cloud-based and disk-based backup solutions
  • Participate in recovery testing and documentation

Documentation

  • Create and maintain accurate documentation for configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps
