Job description

As Infrastructure systems engineer you will be responsible for the management and support of backend infrastructure components.
This can be split up in two major parts, one being the daily maintenance, monitoring and support of the existing infrastructure, and the other one being the implementation of new infrastructure projects and components.In order to do this successfully, you’ll be working in a team of infrastructure specialists, each specialized in their own area, but with a good knowledge of each other’s tasks.You will be an expert in your area of expertise and as such, are able to work on your own as well as with other team members when required.

You’re always looking for operational & security improvements to the existing infrastructure and are striving to further expand your technical knowledge. In order to stay up to date, a training plan will be made and necessary courses will be foreseen.

For projects with a global impact, you’ll be working together with international colleagues, this might include an occasional travel to the US or other countries.

This role reports to the Team Manager Core IT Services.

As mentioned before, the main areas of activities are:
- Installation, maintenance and support of:

  • Storage and backup solutions
  • Server infrastructure and related software components
  • Central datacenter and de-central server rooms

Work on IT Infrastructure related projects:

  • Various migrations
  • Business driven projects

Other than that, you’ll also:

  • Provide 3rd line support for operational/support teams
  • Propose technical changes and improvements to IT Infrastructure Team members
  • Support SOX processes with your good administration skills
  • Focus on continuous improvement
  • Create high quality technical or process documentation

You will work in a high performant and technology challenging environment.

Who are you?
  • Minimum bachelors degree or equivalent through experience.
  • 5 to 10 years of hands-on IT System engineer experience in managing multi-site environments.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and a proactive mindset.
  • Fluent in Dutch and have good knowledge of English; French is an asset.
  • Effective in dealing with individuals at differing levels, internal and external to the organization.
  • Passionate about working in multicultural environments. (Europe, US, Australia)
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical people.
  • Experience in managing and installing backup solutions. (Rubrik, Veeam & Dell Data Domain)
  • Experience with enterprise storage infrastructure. (DAS, NAS, SAN, Storage Virtualization, zoning,…)
  • Ability to manage and install Microsoft Windows Server & Red Hat Linux operating systems.
  • Experience in managing and installing VMware ESXi.
  • You have strong server technologies skills.
  • You have knowledge of Active Directory.
