About the role
Forterra is seeking a highly skilled Linux System Administrator with a strong focus on Ansible, Automation, and Python to join our dynamic team. This role involves designing, implementing, and managing automation solutions using Ansible, developing automation scripts in Python, maintaining Linux systems, and optimizing network connectivity and security. The primary goal is to streamline operations and improve efficiency through automation while ensuring the stability and security of system infrastructure.
What you'll do
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance automation scripts.
  • Install, configure, deploy, and troubleshoot Linux-based autonomous vehicle systems for customers both on-site and remotely.
  • Implement and maintain Continuous Integration (CI/CD) tools such as Ansible, Docker, and Python-based automation frameworks.
  • Automate system administration tasks to reduce manual efforts and increase efficiency.
  • Ensure clear and effective communication with both engineers and customers.
  • Thoroughly document automation workflows and system configurations to facilitate continuous process improvement.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 5+ years Linux administration in production environments
  • Strong infrastructure automation experience including but not limited to Salt, Puppet, or Ansible
  • Proficiency in Python for automation and scripting
  • Experience automating system provisioning, configuration, and deployment
  • Solid networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing)
  • Ability to support and troubleshoot distributed systems
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong infrastructure automation experience using Ansible
  • Experience deploying to embedded or edge systems
  • Containerization (Docker)
  • CI/CD pipelines
  • Network troubleshooting tools (tcpdump, Wireshark)
  • Experience with custom Linux distributions
US Salary Range
$115,000-$135,000
The salary range for this role is an estimate and is based on a wide variety of compensation factors. The salary offered to candidates will vary based on a variety of factors including (but not limited to) relevant work experience, education, specialized training, critical expertise, training, and more. Equity in Forterra is included in most of our full-time, high-demand roles and is therefore considered part of Forterra's overall compensation package. In addition to base salary and equity, Forterra offers competitive benefits for full-time employees including:
