Job description

WisEngineering, LLC is currently interviewing candidates for an immediate or near term position with our company in support of ongoing Department of Defense programs at Picatinny Arsenal in Dover, NJ. Candidate must be US Citizen with the ability to obtain a security clearance. Successful candidate will be a direct (W2) employee of WisEngineering.

Job Title: Munition Setter System Firmware/Software Engineer
Job Summary:
As a WisEngineering employee, you will support DEVCOM-AC within the Munition Setter Team. You will work on meaningful projects focusing on the development, testing, and initializing for munitions. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in electrical engineering, computer engineering or a related engineering field and a desire to BECOME a subject matter expert in munition setter system. While direct experience in this specific area is not required, a strong aptitude for learning and hands-on laboratory work is essential. The successful candidate will be trained and mentored by senior personnel to meet the unique challenges of the DEVCOM-AC Munition Setter Team and other stakeholders.
Training Opportunity:
This position is an excellent opportunity for a talented engineer to grow into a specialized role. The selected individual will work closely with senior experts who will provide comprehensive training and mentorship on all aspects of munition setter system required for success at DEVCOM-AC. Candidate should be willing to attend the technical training such as Microchip Masters Workshop, FPGA development training and C/C++/C# software development training
Required Background
  • Experience:
    • Demonstrated hands-on experience in a laboratory or R&D environment.
    • Experience with firmware and software development in C/C++/C#.
    • Experience in embedded Linux software development.
    • Experience in FPGA HDL development is a plus.
    • Experience reading electronic component datasheet and schematic is a plus.
    • Familiarity with test and evaluation methodologies, and prototype fabrication.
  • Skills:
    • Good analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Good verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
    • Proficiency with C/C++ development software and a willingness to learn new technical software and processes.
    • A proactive and detail-oriented approach to complex technical challenges.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Support & Oversight: Provide technical support for Munition Setter Projects, ensuring that developmental efforts align with program goals and timelines.
  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) Development: Actively develop expertise in munition setting methodologies to serve as a technical resource for the team and other stakeholders.
  • Laboratory & Testing Activities:
    • Support hands-on laboratory activities, including electronic components handling, soldering, and the fabrication of prototype setter systems.
    • Conduct comprehensive testing and evaluation of munition setter initialization process in laboratory environment.
    • Design and execute testing to verify operation of munition setter system in temperature chamber across extreme temperature ranges.
  • Research & Development:
    • Develop firmware and software for various microcontrollers and embedded computer systems in C/C++/C# computer language.
    • Assist in the design, characterization, and failure analysis of setter components and electronic assemblies.
    • Apply engineering principles to solve technical challenges related to setter system reliability, safety, and performance.
  • Collaboration & Communication:
    • Work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and technicians to achieve project objectives.
    • Prepare and present technical findings, project updates, and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications:
  • Education: A Bachelor's, Master's, Engineering (Electrical, or Computer) or a related engineering discipline.
