Job description

A rapidly growing, technology-focused trading firm is looking to add a hands-on Systems Engineer to its infrastructure team in Woodridge, IL. This is a full-time, onsite role centered on Linux systems, physical infrastructure, and network engineering, supporting a multi–data center environment. The team operates close to the hardware, focusing on performance, reliability, and scalability rather than cloud-first solutions.
This is an opportunity to join a lean, evolving team where this role represents an expansion into deeper systems + networking capability. The environment is highly dynamic, with active infrastructure redesign efforts underway, particularly across networking. The ideal candidate is a mid-level engineer who is strong in Linux systems, has exposure to networking, and wants to deepen their skillset in a trading or low-latency environment. This is not a purely cloud or DevOps role, it’s built for someone who enjoys working directly with servers, switches, and system-level optimization. Required Skills & Experience
  • Strong hands-on experience with Linux systems administration (production environments)
  • Experience working with on-prem / bare metal infrastructure (not cloud-only)
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (routing, switching, troubleshooting)
  • Experience operating in data center environments or with physical hardware
  • Ability to troubleshoot both system and network layers
  • Comfortable in fast-paced, evolving environments
Desired Skills & Experience
  • Experience in trading, financial services, or low-latency environments (strongly preferred)
  • Exposure to Linux kernel-level tuning or system optimization
  • Hands-on work with switches, routers, firewalls, or VPNs
  • Experience with Ansible or similar automation tools
  • Familiarity with multi–data center infrastructure
What You Will Be Doing Tech Breakdown
  • 65% Linux Systems (bare metal, performance tuning)
  • 25% Networking (routing, switching, redesign support)
  • 10% Windows / Microsoft ecosystem (M365, identity)
Daily Responsibilities
  • 70% Hands-On Engineering (systems + infrastructure)
  • 20% Project Work (network redesign, scaling initiatives)
  • 10% Team Collaboration
The Offer You will receive the following benefits:
  • Competitive base salary
  • Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance
  • Paid Vacation Time
  • Opportunity to gain specialized experience in trading infrastructure

Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis now and in the future.
