Linux Systems Administrator

Transform technology into opportunity as a Linux Systems Administratorwith GDIT. In this role, you will support missioncritical enterprise IT systems and contribute to the modernization of agency operations.

GDIT is seeking a motivated Linux Systems Administrator to support mission critical enterprise infrastructure and network management applications within a Department of Defense environment.

This position is ideal for an infrastructure professional with strong Linux administration fundamentals who wants to expand their expertise across enterprise network management, identity and access management, automation, cybersecurity, and infrastructure management technologies.

Prior experience with all supported applications is not required. The selected candidate will work alongside experienced engineers and progressively develop expertise across the enterprise application environment.

How an Linux System Administrator will make an impact:

Administer and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems supporting mission critical enterprise applications.

Perform operating system installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, troubleshooting, and lifecycle maintenance.

Monitor operating system and application health, resource utilization, storage, logs, services, and system performance.

Troubleshoot Linux operating system, application, storage, connectivity, authentication, and performance issues.

Support Linux systems operating within VMware and other virtualized environments.

Support enterprise applications including Cisco ISE, Aruba ClearPass, RSA SecurID, LDAP,InfoBlox,CloudVision,AirWave, Cisco Prime, Junos Space,CyberSecureIMS, and related infrastructure management technologies.

Participate in application upgrades, maintenance, configuration changes, testing, troubleshooting, and service restoration.

Apply security patches, vulnerability mitigations, DISA STIG requirements, and approved configuration standards.

Develop Bash, Python, or other approved scripts to automate recurring administrative activities.

Support Ansible and GitLab based automation and configuration management.

Identify opportunities to improve system reliability, reduce manual activities, and increase operational efficiency.

Maintain system documentation, standard operating procedures, configuration information, troubleshooting guides, and recovery procedures.

Participate in cross training, business hours operational support, and scheduled on call support.

WHAT YOULL NEED TO SUCCEED (Required)

Education: Bachelors Degree. An additional 4 years of experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.

Clearance: Active DoD Secret clearance or higher at time of hire.

Certification(s):Current CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent certification meeting applicable DoD cybersecurity workforce requirements.

Technical Certification:

Current certification in at least one relevant technical discipline, such as:

RHCSA or RHCE

Red Hat Ansible certification

Linux Foundation certification

Equivalent Linux, networking, virtualization, or infrastructure certification

Experience: 3 to 5 years of professional experience in Linux administration, systems administration, infrastructure engineering, enterprise application support, or a related technical discipline.At least 2 years of hands on Linux administration experience in a production environment.Experience troubleshooting operating system, application, connectivity, or infrastructure issues.

Preferred Qualifications:

Red Hat Enterprise Linux experience.

Bash or Python scripting.

Ansible and GitLab experience.

Knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, LDAP, SNMP, and enterprise networking fundamentals.

Experience applying DISA STIG requirements.

Experience supporting classified, disconnected, or air gapped environments.

Exposure to ISE, ClearPass, RSA, InfoBlox, CloudVision, AirWave, Cisco Prime, Junos Space, or similar enterprise infrastructure platforms.

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $131,750 - $178,250. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
