Description:

Columbia Technology Partners is seeking a skilled Senior Linux System Administrator / Systems Engineer to support a mission-critical, IC-wide service environment. This role is ideal for a hands-on professional with deep Linux expertise who enjoys working across infrastructure, virtualization, and automation technologies in secure, high-availability environments.

Multiple shift options are available, including day shifts, weekday evening or night shifts, or 12-hour weekend shifts (Saturday and Sunday).

You will play a critical role in maintaining and optimizing Linux-based systems, supporting enterprise infrastructure components, and ensuring system reliability and compliance across secure environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer, configure, and maintain Linux systems (CentOS/RHEL) in a production environment
  • Install, configure, and support JBoss / WildFly application servers
  • Build, configure, and manage VMware virtual machines, ensuring optimal performance and availability
  • Support system operations within a secure, mission-driven IC environment
  • Assist with automation and configuration management, including use of Ansible where applicable
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues across compute, storage, and network layers
  • Support security compliance, authentication mechanisms, and system hardening activities
  • Perform scripting and automation tasks using shell and/or Python
  • Contribute to physical server administration and infrastructure support as needed
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain system stability and meet mission requirements

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of Linux administration/engineering (RHEL/CentOS) in enterprise environments
  • Strong experience with JBoss/WildFly, VMware, and secure system operations
  • Proficiency in scripting (Shell/Python) and troubleshooting across infrastructure stacks
  • Experience supporting mission-critical systems with performance and reliability focus
  • Familiarity with Ansible, storage, networking, authentication, and security compliance/hardening
  • Nice to have: Linux cert, basic Oracle DBA exposure, and experience with JSON

Requirements:
