The Opportunity
The Linux Systems Engineer will function as part of a team of engineers responsible for designing, building, maintaining, and securing Linux-based systems to ensure reliability, performance, and security across in our secure environments.
Responsibilities
Install, configure, and maintain Linux operating systems and servers
Monitor system performance, reliability, and security; respond to alerts proactively
Troubleshoot system, application, hardware, and network-related issues on Linux platforms
Develop and maintain automation scripts using Bash, Python, or similar languages to streamline tasks
Perform regular updates, patching, and system hardening to maintain security posture
Implement backup, recovery, and disaster-recovery procedures for Linux environments
Collaborate with network engineers and other infrastructure teams to ensure seamless integration and high availability of systems
Maintain documentation related to system configurations, troubleshooting processes, and operational procedures
Support users and administrators by providing technical guidance and resolving Linux-related issues
Manage critical infrastructure services (e.g., DNS, DHCP, LDAP, NTP, mail relays) within Linux environment
Architect and maintain scalable, highly available Linux infrastructures across physical, virtual, and cloud environments
Deploy and manage containerization and orchestration solutions such as Docker and Kubernetes
Conduct vulnerability scanning, security audits, and enforce access controls using SELinux or similar tools
Perform root-cause analysis for complex issues involving networking, storage, or application performance
Basic Cisco networking management
Qualifications
Typically requires bachelor's degree or equivalent, and at least 7 years of related experience.
Must have a current TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph

There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications.
