Job Description
Cape Fox subsidiary, Cape Fox Federal Integrators (CFFI), is seeking a highly organized and motivated Senior Systems Administrator to join our team in support of a federal government client at Dugway Proving Ground, Utah. The Senior Systems Administrator will provide advanced enterprise server administration, infrastructure management, and systems engineering support for a federal government client. This individual will be responsible for the design, deployment, maintenance, and optimization of Windows and Linux server environments, ensuring high availability, security compliance, and operational readiness across the computing infrastructure. The Senior Systems Administrator will serve as a technical subject matter expert, providing mentorship to junior staff and collaborating with network, cybersecurity, and application support teams to deliver reliable IT services. The salary range (or hiring range) for this exempt position is: $115,000 - $145, 000
The above salary range represents the company's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Core Duties:
  • Administers, maintains, and optimizes Windows Server (2016/2019/2022) and Linux (RHEL/CentOS) server environments supporting the government mission
  • Manages Active Directory (AD) infrastructure, including domain controllers, organizational units, user/group accounts, trust relationships, and Group Policy Objects (GPOs) to enforce security policies and operational standards
  • Designs, implements, and maintains Group Policy configurations to ensure consistent security baselines, software deployment, and user environment management across the enterprise
  • Plans and executes server patching cycles in accordance with DoD Information Assurance Vulnerability Management (IAVM) requirements, ensuring timely application of security updates and compliance with STIGs
  • Implements and manages backup and disaster recovery solutions, including scheduling, validation, testing, and documentation of recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and business continuity
  • Deploys and maintains enterprise monitoring tools to proactively identify system performance issues, capacity constraints, and potential failures before they impact mission operations
  • Performs server hardware and virtual infrastructure management, including VMware vSphere/ESXi or Hyper-V environments
  • Troubleshoots complex system issues across multi-platform environments, performing root cause analysis and implementing permanent corrective actions
  • Develops and maintains system documentation, including standard operating procedures, network diagrams, configuration baselines, and disaster recovery plans
  • Supports cybersecurity compliance activities, including Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) application, vulnerability remediation, and participation in Risk Management Framework (RMF) authorization processes
  • Coordinates with network administrators, database administrators, and application support teams to ensure seamless integration and interoperability of enterprise systems
  • Provides Tier III technical support and escalation resolution for complex server and infrastructure issues
  • Mentors junior systems administrators, providing technical guidance and knowledge transfer to build team capability

Job Requirements
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience within the past 10, working as a Systems Administrator
  • Required Skillset: SNMP, CISCO, NAC
  • Minimum of One Qualifying Baseline certification GSEC, Security+ CE, SSCP, CySA+, GICSP, CND, GCIH, GCED, or CASP CE
  • Minimum of One Qualifying Baseline certification CAP, CND, Cloud+, GSLC, Security+ CE, or HCISPP
  • Minimum of One Qualifying Computing Environment or other relevant computing environment certification(s): RHCSA, RHCE, RHCA, MCITP, MCSA, MCSE, MCTS, VCP, VCAP, VCIX, VCDX, or EMC Specialist
  • Experience in EMC, SharePoint, Citrix, VMWare, Windows Server, Red Hat Linux
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience Directory & Authentication, Storage & Virtualization, Ops Support
  • Experience in Project Management, Agile, and ITIL
  • Must maintain current Information Assurance Technician (IAT) Level III professional certification per DoD 8570.01-M/8140.03
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience administering Windows Server 2016, 2019, and/or 2022 in an Active Directory domain environment
  • Demonstrated experience administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) or CentOS systems in an enterprise environment
  • Proficiency in Active Directory design and management, including Group Policy creation, management, and troubleshooting
  • Experience implementing and managing enterprise backup and recovery solutions (e.g., Veeam, Commvault, or equivalent)
  • Experience with server monitoring and alerting tools (e.g., SCOM, SolarWinds, Nagios, or equivalent)
  • Knowledge of DoD STIG compliance requirements and experience hardening Windows and Linux systems
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with the ability to resolve complex multi-system issues under time constraints
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information to diverse audiences
  • Proficient in the use of computers and software required to perform work (e.g., Microsoft Office software)
  • Knowledge of PKI/certificate services administration in a DoD environment
  • Experience with cloud or hybrid cloud environments (Azure, AWS GovCloud)
  • Must provide copies of certifications
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must have an Active Secret security clearance and SCI eligibility
  • Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
