Job description

We are on the lookout for a skilled Senior Linux Engineer to join our dynamic team in support of our Navy clients in Bethesda, Maryland. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the stability and security of our systems while implementing innovative solutions. This position is located 100% on-site.
Key Responsibilities
Automation & AAP Management:
  • Platform Architecture: Deploy, upgrade, and maintain the Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) 2.x infrastructure, including Automation Controller, Private Automation Hub, and Execution Environments.
  • Content Development: Write, test, and optimize complex Ansible playbooks and roles to automate patching, provisioning, and configuration management.
  • Governance: Configure Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) within AAP to ensure secure access for junior admins and developers.
  • Integration: Integrate AAP with external tools such as ServiceNow, Git repositories, satellite servers, and monitoring tools (Splunk/Dynatrace).
  • Migration: Lead the migration of legacy Tower/AWX workflows to the modern containerized AAP architecture.

Linux Engineering & Operations:
  • Administration: Provide Tier 3 support for RHEL 8/9 servers in physical, virtual, and cloud environments.
  • Security Compliance: Automate the application of DISA STIGs (Security Technical Implementation Guides) and remediate ACAS vulnerabilities using Ansible.
  • Patch Management: Orchestrate OS patching cycles and upgrades with minimal downtime.
  • Troubleshooting: Analyze system logs and performance metrics to resolve complex infrastructure issues.

Requirements
  • Security Clearance: Active Department of Defense Top Secret security clearance required.
  • Experience: Minimum 8 years of hands-on experience in Linux System Administration (RHEL/CentOS).
  • Ansible Automation Platform (AAP): At least 3 years of specialized experience with Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform, including demonstrated proficiency in:
      • Creating and managing Execution Environments (EEs) using ansible-builder.
      • Managing inventories, workflows, and job templates within Automation Controller
      • Developing custom Ansible Collections and reusable playbooks.
  • Scripting: Strong proficiency in Python and Bash scripting for automation and system integration.
  • Security Compliance: Experience hardening systems in accordance with DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and NIST 800-53 standards.
  • Education: Associate degree or higher in a technical or related field.
  • Certifications:
      • Compliance with IAT Level III baseline certification requirements.
      • Red Hat Certified Specialist in Ansible Automation or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) (preferred)
  • Preferred Qualifications:
      • Experience with containerization technologies such as Red Hat OpenShift, Kubernetes, or Docker.
      • Familiarity with automating workloads in Cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GovCloud).
      • Expert knowledge of Git/GitLab for version control and CI/CD workflows.

The current salary range for this position will be $140,000 to $190,000 (annually).
