IT Engineer - Linux & Ansible AutomationPay Range: $60/hour to $72/hourPosition Overview
We are seeking an experienced IT Engineer - Linux & Ansible Automation to support the implementation, administration, automation, and optimization of enterprise Linux infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments. The ideal candidate will have strong Linux engineering expertise, experience with Infrastructure-as-Code, and a passion for automation, system reliability, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
  • Implement, administer, and maintain Linux systems across physical data centers and cloud environments.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of IT systems, including installation, configuration, maintenance, upgrades, and decommissioning.
  • Ensure high availability and reliability of critical production systems through proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and issue resolution.
  • Monitor system health, performance, and utilization while identifying opportunities for optimization and tuning.
  • Install, harden, patch, and secure Linux operating systems in accordance with industry best practices.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute hardware and software upgrades and new system deployments.
  • Develop and maintain automation using Ansible, Bash, Python, or similar technologies.
  • Support Infrastructure-as-Code initiatives and automation strategies.
  • Participate in a rotating 24/7 on-call support schedule.
  • Assist with incident response, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Contribute to system architecture, technical standards, and operational procedures.
  • Support regulatory compliance, security audits, and certification activities.
  • Collaborate with security, governance, and application teams to deploy secure, compliant, and scalable infrastructure solutions.
  • Work with application teams to evaluate performance, capacity, and infrastructure requirements.
  • Create, maintain, and update technical documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and operational runbooks.
  • Stay current with Linux technologies, security best practices, and emerging infrastructure trends.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience administering Linux systems in a production environment.
  • 4+ years of Linux systems administration and engineering experience.
  • Experience supporting high-availability, multi-user enterprise environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
  • Experience developing automation with Ansible and scripting languages such as Bash and Python.
  • Working knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Red Hat Satellite.
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS.
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code and DevOps practices.
  • Experience using source control, CI/CD, and collaboration tools such as Bitbucket, Jira, and Jenkins.
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals, security concepts, and distributed systems.
  • Experience with enterprise monitoring and alerting tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across technical teams and participate in an on-call rotation.
  • Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn new technologies.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Veritas InfoScale.
  • Experience with compliance and vulnerability management tools such as Tanium and Qualys.
  • Exposure to enterprise security, governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) processes.
  • Experience supporting hybrid cloud environments.
