POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Administrator, Server Operations is responsible for the administration, support, and continuous improvement of the company's enterprise server environment. This role supports a large, geographically distributed organization and ensures the reliability, performance, and scalability of server and virtualization platforms.

This position works closely with infrastructure leadership and peer teams to maintain operational stability while contributing to ongoing improvements in server, data center, and virtualization services.

JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Server Administration & Engineering

    • Administer and maintain enterprise Windows and Linux server environments.

    • Perform server provisioning, configuration, patching, and lifecycle management.

    • Support infrastructure standards and ensure systems are aligned with enterprise architecture and security requirements.

    • Contribute to continuous improvement of server design, deployment, and support processes.

  • Virtualization & Platform Support

    • Administer and support VMware vSphere and related virtualization platforms.

    • Support and maintain Citrix application and desktop virtualization environments.

    • Collaborate with infrastructure and application teams to ensure optimal performance and availability of hosted workloads.

    • Assist with capacity planning and resource optimization across virtual environments.

  • Monitor, Performance & Reliability

    • Monitor server health and performance using enterprise tools (e.g., SolarWinds, VMware Operations Manager, System Center).

    • Identify and remediate performance issues, capacity constraints, and system risks.

    • Support proactive monitoring and alerting to maintain high system availability.

    • Participate in root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

  • Operational Support & Troubleshooting

    • Provide Tier 2/3 support for server and infrastructure-related issues.

    • Troubleshoot complex system issues across compute, operating systems, and integrated platforms.

    • Coordinate with peer infrastructure teams (e.g., Network, Storage) to resolve cross-domain issues.

    • Participate in on-call rotation and respond to infrastructure incidents and alerts.

  • Core Infrastructure Services

    • Administer Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy environments.

    • Support enterprise backup and recovery solutions, ensuring data protection and recoverability.

    • Configure and support SAN storage environments in coordination with infrastructure teams.

    • Maintain and support Cisco UCS server hardware platforms.

  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Significant experience in enterprise server administration and infrastructure support.

  • Proven experience supporting both Windows Server and Linux environments.

  • Strong experience with VMware virtualization platforms.

  • Experience with scripting and automation (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python).

  • Experience administering Active Directory and core infrastructure services (DNS, DHCP, Group Policy).

  • Experience with SAN storage configuration and management.

  • Experience supporting enterprise backup solutions (e.g., Veeam; ExaGrid a plus).

  • Experience supporting Cisco UCS server hardware.

  • Experience supporting Citrix application and desktop virtualization environments.

  • Regular and reliable attendance.

  • Willingness and ability to participate in on-call rotation.
