Job description

Local NJ/NY metro candidates only. Candidates must be able to commute consistently to Englewood Cliffs, NJ. In-person interview is required, and remote interview accommodations are not available for this role. Please only apply if you are local or able to attend the in-person interview and work onsite 3–4 days per week.
 

We are looking for a hands-on Database Engineer to own the design, performance, and reliability of our database infrastructure across on-premise and AWS environments.

What You Wll Do
  • Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain MySQL, Redis, and PostgreSQL databases across on-prem and AWS
  • Manage replication strategies for high availability based on application needs
  • Administer and optimize AWS managed database services (RDS, Aurora, ElastiCache, DynamoDB, S3, EC2)
  • Automate infrastructure setup and routine tasks using Ansible and AWS CloudFormation
  • Build and maintain monitoring/alerting systems (CloudWatch, PMM, Datadog, MonYog) to catch performance issues before they become problems
  • Own daily maintenance, health checks, and capacity planning across all environments
  • Partner with developers on schema design and query optimization
  • Work with DevSecOps to apply security patches and upgrades on schedule
  • Design and maintain backup and disaster recovery strategies
  • Generate ad-hoc reports and insights for internal stakeholders
What You Bring
  • Strong hands-on experience with MySQL, Redis, and PostgreSQL administration
  • Solid AWS database services experience (RDS, Aurora, ElastiCache, DynamoDB)
  • Comfort with Ansible and/or AWS CloudFormation for automation
  • Experience with database monitoring tools (CloudWatch, Datadog, PMM, or similar)
  • Working knowledge of Shell Scripting or Python
  • Strong Linux administration skills
  • Experience with backup/DR strategy and execution
