Description:
  • Duration: 6-Month Contract
  • Compensation: Competitive hourly rate plus Per Diem for eligible candidates.

Core Responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for all activities directly linked to the improvement of stainless-steel carbody manufacturing processes.

  • Process Improvement: Drive enhancements in carbody manufacturing through rigorous industrial engineering methods.
  • Documentation & Governance: Update and maintain work instructions, ensuring all technical documentation meets quality standards.
  • Tooling & Equipment: Conduct tooling assessments and analyze/optimize jigs and fixtures to improve production efficiency.
  • ECO Industrialization: Manage the transition of Engineering Change Orders (ECO) into the manufacturing environment.
  • Shopfloor Support: Provide direct technical support to production teams to ensure smooth operations and deformation control.

Scope Note: This role is focused strictly on manufacturing process improvement and shopfloor support. It does not include design engineering or procurement activities.

Requirements:
  • Industry Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience specifically in stainless-steel carbody shell manufacturing.
  • Technical Expertise: * In-depth knowledge of welding processes (MIG/TIG) and deformation control.
    • Expertise in MTM, time studies, and line balancing.
    • Experience with PFMEA, root cause analysis, and structured problem-solving (8D/PDCA).
  • Documentation: Strong capability in writing Work Instructions and maintaining digital traceability.
  • Certifications (Preferred):
    • Lean Manufacturing certification.
    • Green Belt or equivalent problem-solving certification.

Supplier & Service Requirements

  • Staffing: Provide qualified process engineering personnel available for the duration of the contract.
  • Project Management: Designate a single Point of Contact (POC) for all communications and resource management.
  • Deliverables: Ensure all measurable outputs are delivered within required timelines and documented in a digital format.
  • Traceability: Maintain detailed documentation of all work performed to ensure full traceability throughout the project lifecycle.
