General Description
The Orange County Transportation Services Department has an opening for 2 Public Transportation Drivers and a Public Transportation List Driver. The Public Transportation List Driver will not have an assigned route.
An employee of this class is responsible for transporting residents over specified routes based on a designated time schedule. Work involves providing a safe, reliable, efficient, and customer friendly transit service to all residents of Orange County, completing a manifest, maintaining knowledge of Orange County road systems, and providing administrative support by assisting in the Orange County Public Transportation (OCPT) office as needed.
Work is performed under the general direction of the Transportation Administrator, with some leeway to exercise independent judgment within the framework of applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures in the performance of duties, both in terms of planning and accomplishing work, and in making decisions regarding needs and requests. Supervision is not a responsibility of this class. Does related work as required.
* This is a safety sensitive position and participation in the Drug and Alcohol Program is required. Background Check is required. Fitness for Duty Assessment is required. Current MVR required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Requires one (1) year of public transportation driving experience, and the ability the read, write and perform basic mathematical skills.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Possession of a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger (P) endorsement issued by the State of North Carolina.
Must be at least 21 years old.
All offers of employment are conditional upon successful clearance of pre-employment drug testing, background check including Motor Vehicle Record and Fitness-For-Duty Assessment. Employment cannot commence until the employee has been cleared.
Continued employment is subject to Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and NC Department of Transportation regulations for transit drivers.
This classification is considered safety sensitive, and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing, as well as random background checks.
