JOB DESCRIPTION

Machinery Technician Level II

Maintenance Department

NDS, Inc. - Lindsay Operations

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Supervision: Under the direct supervision of the Machinery Lead Technician

Position requires 2 to 4 years hands on experience in an industrial setting.

Performs preventative maintenance and repair of injection molding machinery & support equipment.

Rigs, installs and tests injection molding machinery and support equipment.

Works under general supervision  with a certain degree of creativity and  latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.

 

40 hours per week. (May include overtime & weekend work)

SCOPE OF WORK PERFORMED

Troubleshoots, tests, repairs, and services electrical systems, hydraulic systems, electronic systems, material handling systems, chilled water systems, pneumatic systems, and other production support equipment.

Conducts preventative maintenance services per written PM instructions on all production equipment.

Installs machinery under the guidance of the Plant Engineer, Maintenance Supervisor, and Machinery Lead Technician.

Fabricates and installs safety devices, access platforms, water systems, and electrical services.

May train others on specific jobs.

Performs related work as assigned.

GENERAL QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES

Experience and Education

Experience and formal training in industrial mechanics required.

Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent is required.

Graduation from trade school or two year college with major in industrial mechanics is required.

Specialized training in specific maintenance crafts is highly desired.

May be required to complete formal training in areas of specialty.

Industrial Maintenane Diploma Certified Highly Preferred

General experience with schematics, numarics, electro mechanics, and able to read blueprints.

Job Description Continued - Maintenance Technician - Level II  Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Should have above average experience, knowledge, and understanding of industrial machinery mechanics, electricity, electronics, hydraulics, pneumatics, plumbing and pipefitting, solvent welding of PVC pipe and fittings, metal cutting , welding, & brazing, rigging, and safety procedures.

Must be 'qualified' to work on electrical systems up to 480 volts per NDS defined procedures.

Must be familiar with the safe operation of hand tools, power tools, and equipment common to the maintenance of industrial systems and machinery.

Certified forklift operator.

Maintains clean DMV report.

 Physical Demands & Work Conditions

To perform essential functions of the job, the following applies: Requires standing, stretching, bending, walking, lifting and transporting a minimum of 50 lbs.

Must be able to climb stairs.

Must be able to climb silo ladders to an elevation of 40'.

Work involves working with and exposure to oils, gear lubricants, greases, lubrication equipment, water treatment chemicals, cleaning chemicals, cleaning & disposal equipment, paint & painting equipment, high levels of noise, and welding fumes.

Non-smoking environment.

Will be required to wear personal protective equipment as appropriate for the work required.

Requirements

Must furnish standard  hand tools and tool box per attached Tool List.

Must  wear protective footwear during all work hours. (steel toed boots)

Must  wear provided eye protection and hearing protection.

Must follow all company safety rules and regulations.  Must be proactive in protecting self, subordinates, other workers, and company assets from harm.
