Your Job
Flint Hills Resources (FHR) is currently seeking a LIMS Administrator to support our Corpus Christi refinery complex. This role is responsible for the administration, configuration, maintenance, validation, and continuous improvement of the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). This role serves as the liaison between laboratory operations, quality systems, information technology, engineering, and external vendors to ensure the LIMS supports laboratory workflows, regulatory requirements, and business objectives. The position is accountable for maintaining defensible laboratory data, system security, audit readiness, and efficient data integration across the laboratory and enterprise systems.
Our Team
The Lab LIMS Administrator is part of the analytical laboratory organization supporting the Corpus Christi refinery complex. This role collaborates closely with laboratory personnel, IT professionals, vendors, and refinery stakeholders to maintain and enhance laboratory systems that are essential to business operations and decision-making.
What You Will Do
LIMS Administration & Support
  • Administer and maintain the laboratory's LIMS environment.
  • Configure sample workflows, test methods, calculations, specifications, reporting templates, and user roles.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Serve as primary contact for LIMS users, vendors, and IT support teams.
  • Manage system upgrades, patches, and enhancements.

Data Integrity & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with:
    • ASTM D6792
    • ASTM D6299
    • Corporate data governance requirements
    • Support QC/QC activities
  • Maintain audit trails, electronic records, and electronic signature controls.
  • Support data integrity initiatives and defensible data practices.
  • Participate in internal and external audits.

System Configuration & Validation
  • Design and implement LIMS configuration changes.
  • Document system changes through change-control procedures.
  • Maintain validation documentation and testing records.

Integration & Automation
  • Support interfaces between LIMS and:
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual laboratory processes.
  • Develop and maintain data import/export routines.

Reporting & Analytics
  • Develop dashboards and KPI reporting tools.
  • Generate laboratory performance metrics and management reports.

User Management & Training
  • Manage user access and security permissions.
  • Conduct LIMS training for new and existing personnel.
  • Develop user procedures and work instructions.
  • Provide ongoing support to laboratory staff.

Continuous Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to improve laboratory efficiency and data quality.
  • Lead LIMS enhancement projects.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and software solutions.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Minimum of 4-year Bachelor of Science
  • 3+ years of experience working in an analytical laboratory.
  • Willing and able to respond to calls 24/7 for emergency response either in person or over the phone to support Lab LIMS issues.
  • Willingness to travel (10-15%)

What Will Put You Ahead
  • Experience in refinery, petrochemical, environmental, pharmaceutical, or manufacturing laboratories.
  • Experience with ISO9001
  • Knowledge of analytical test methods and standards (ASTM, EPA, ISO).
  • Experience with laboratory accreditation requirements.
  • Familiarity with one or more commercial LIMS Platforms such Sample Manager, LabWare, Biovia, etc.
  • Experience with Power BI
  • Experience with Structured Query Language (SQL)
  • Experience with Python

This role is subject to the Transportation Workers Identification Credentialing (TWIC) rule and requires the successful candidate to obtain a TWIC identification badge, allowing for un-escorted access to the facility within a specific time period.
