Job description

Role : BioInformatics Database Service Professional

Client : Florida Department of Health

Work Type : Hybrid

Location : Jacksonville,Florida

Compensation : Based on Experience

Duration : Long Term

Qualification

1. A MS or PhD in bioinformatics, microbiology, microbial genetics, molecular biology, computer science,or related field.
2. Technical exprience with data storage, file transfer and file sharing process for bioinformatics,
Advanced Molecular Detection (AMD) and/or genetic sequencing data
3. Experience providing training and/or technical assistance for data storage, interoperability, file systems and file transfer for bioinformatics, AMD and genetic sequencing data
4. Experience using Cloud infrastructure and tools for bioinformatics, AMD and genetic sequencing data processes
5. Experience with public health data integration and interoperability between LIMS and databases

6. Experience with public health data reporting from state public health programs to federal partners (APHL, CDC, HRSA)

Responsibilities:

1. At the direction of the Department, develop a database to support molecular sequencing analysis
and reporting.
2.. At the direction of the Department, integrate epidemiology data with existing Next Generation
Sequencing and AMD data.
3.. At the direction of the Department, develop capacity within the County Health Departments to
integrate genomic and epidemiological data.
4.. At the direction of the Department, select, identify, and implement the necessary software and
database services to complete defined analytical tasks.
5. At the direction of the Department, develop, manage, and curate database for analysis.
6. At the direction of the Department, provide database training for each user type.
7. At the direction of the Department, coordinate with bioinformaticians involved in analysis
projects, including data sharing and engagement across multidisciplinary project teams.
8. At the direction of the Department, develop an interface with the clinical LIMS (LabWare), Clarity LIMS, and FL DOH Merlin disease surveillance system.
9. As directed by the Department, attend monthly meetings in person with the Department and
provide progress during the meeting.
10. Each month, create a monthly written progress report summarizing development and status of
tasks 6.1.1 - 6.1.9., and submit it to the Department Contract Manager no later than the 7th day
of the following month.
