Job description

Job Title: Sr. Maritime Electrical Manager Location: North Kingstown, Rhode Island Type: Direct Hire Compensation: (none provided) Contractor Work Model: Onsite – onsite

Responsibilities

  • Lead the electrical engineering team in the design, integration, and delivery of shipboard electrical systems for new vessel construction and refit projects.
  • Review and approve all electrical drawings and documentation ensuring accuracy and compliance with standards such as ABS and USCG.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of electrical engineers and designers, assigning tasks and setting priorities to ensure timely deliverables.
  • Coordinate with naval architects, mechanical engineers, and production teams to integrate electrical systems with other shipboard systems.
  • Participate in project planning, scheduling, and progress reviews to ensure project milestones are met.
  • Ensure all electrical designs meet regulatory standards, overseeing quality checks and resolving technical issues during construction and commissioning.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, implement best practices, and address design challenges and field discrepancies promptly.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 5–7 years of experience in shipyard or maritime electrical engineering, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical and familiarity with ShipConstructor or similar software.
  • Strong knowledge of shipboard electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, automation, and communication systems.
  • Ability to interpret and apply ABS/Coast Guard rules and regulations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Experience with PLC programming, power management systems, and advanced technology integration (preferred).
  • Familiarity with shipyard workflows and safety protocols (preferred).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and maintain up-to-date documentation.
