A typical week for a Lighthouse Keeper involves maintaining the light and navigational equipment, conducting regular safety checks, monitoring weather and sea conditions, and keeping detailed logs of activities and any incidents. Much of the work is solitary, and shifts can include nights, weekends, and holidays to ensure round-the-clock operation. While some lighthouses now operate automatically, those with active keepers require constant vigilance to ensure reliable operation, especially during severe weather. Familiarity with weather monitoring systems, radio communication tools, and basic electrical or mechanical repair is essential. Strong self-reliance, attention to detail, and a disciplined approach to routine tasks are standout soft skills for this position. • Monitor quality control, calibration, proficiency testing, and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Review instrument performance and investigate technical or quality-related issues.

  • Ensure all testing is performed in accordance with CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and laboratory policies.
  • Collaborate with the Laboratory Director on quality initiatives, workflow improvements, and laboratory operations.
  • Support inspections and maintain continuous regulatory readiness.
  • Help shape laboratory processes as the organization continues to grow.

  • Extensive hands-on experience with LC-MS/MS toxicology testing and specimen preparation.
  • Experience with AB Sciex instrumentation is strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of CLIA regulations, laboratory quality systems, and regulatory compliance.
  • Comfortable working independently while managing multiple aspects of daily laboratory operations.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, organization, and communication skills.
