  • Serve as a supervisor over the Railroad Trackage Section to approximately 25 subordinate workers.
  • Perform full supervisory responsibility overseeing and directing work operations.
  • Determine the equipment and supplies needed for each work site.
  • Develop performance requirements and make formal and informal performance appraisals.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position meets the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted. This position is subject to a pre-employment screening and random testing.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • Incumbent will be required to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license to operate a light motor vehicle.
  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain Track Inspector Certification within 1 year of being assigned to this position.
  • This position may require incumbent to travel up to 65% of the time, including to OCONUS locations.
  • This position requires the incumbent to complete the Railroad Safety Course within 30 days of being assigned to this position and attend annual Railroad Safety refresher course.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Railroad Maintenance Vehicle Operator Supervisor without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common tasks such as assisting with planning and training, provide mentorship with other employees and operate basic railway equipment. I can assist with prioritizing workload, identify training needs, and perform basic railroad maintenance vehicle operations. I work under normal supervision of a branch chief who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
