Both roles require relevant certifications and are vital in ensuring safe lifting practices across industries.

How much do lifting engineers make?

Lifting engineers typically earn between $60,000 and $100,000 annually, depending on experience, certifications, and location. They often work with heavy machinery, cranes, and rigging equipment, requiring specialized skills and safety training.

What does a lifting engineer do?

A lifting engineer designs, inspects, and oversees the installation and operation of lifting equipment such as cranes, hoists, and rigging systems. They ensure safety standards are met, conduct risk assessments, and may hold certifications like a rigging or crane operator license. Their work often involves working in construction, industrial, or maritime environments to facilitate safe lifting operations.

What qualifications do I need to be a lifting engineer?

Lifting engineers typically need a relevant engineering degree such as mechanical, civil, or structural engineering. Professional certifications like a Lifting Equipment Inspector qualification and experience with crane operations, safety standards, and load calculations are also important. Strong technical skills and knowledge of safety regulations are essential for this role.
