Job description

Nakoma Pool is an extension of Nakoma Golf Club located within Madison. We strive to maintain a clean and friendly environment for the private membership and their guests to use during the summer season. To accomplish this, would are in search of people who are positive and outgoing and understand that they will be held to the highest of standards of professionalism for being a life guard, coach, or front desk attendant. All applicants should have swimming experience in their background and hold current certifications that are necessary for the position they are applying for.
The Pool season this year will run from May 23 till August 31, 2026. It is very important to have staff that can work through August each season so that the safety of the facility is maintained while we are open. Please note that staff are expected to work the entire season. Operating hours do change depending on the early temperatures in May, as activities begin once school is out for the summer, and then again in August as day light fades and temperatures drop again. Staffing the pool generally will have a manager or assistant manager, 3-5 life guards and at peak times a front desk attendant.
We will fill positions on an as needed basis which takes into consideration the returning staff, the qualifications of applicants, and the membership numbers for the season. All applications will be held for the entire season and if hiring needs to happen after the start of the season then Nakoma will pull from the current applicants to do interviews.
Lifeguard / Instructor: Lifeguards will average 15-35 hours per week, with the higher end occurring during lesson instruction periods. Lifeguards should hold current certifications in Lifeguarding, CPR (with AED), and First Aid, or be able to have certifications by opening weekend (May 23rd). Lifeguards are paid on an hourly wage of $16 per hour. All lifeguards are expected to be able to help with lessons but not all lifeguards will be assigned lessons for the entire season.
